Karen

This movie fundamentally misunderstands what makes a Karen a Karen, but that's the least of its problems. This has the feel of a movie rushed into production (before its meme relevance expires) with a first-draft script, on-the-nose political messaging, and sloppy filmmaking. Taryn Manning does what she can, but she deserves a better version of her character in a much better movie. Just watch Serial Mom instead.

Utterly bizarre, cut-rate nonsense might have been entertaining if Manning's not uninteresting performance was allowed to truly take flight, but it ultimately seems like a lot of energy expended for nothing. Its muddy political philosophy seems to point to a conservative's view of how a progressive would view a conservative - because everything everyone says and does comes wrapped in overcooked political exposition, it's difficult to ascertain who we are supposed to be sympathising with.
