Kautokeino 1852

The other rare Samí movie I've seen recently. Very well done story and shooting. The sceneries are of course exotic and beautiful. A mild mention of a black-and-white story (solo point of view), but it was made by Samí guys by themselves so it is kind of acceptable. Anni-Christina Juuso, my favourite, in leading role. Yes!

One-sided and with very stereotypical characters, the good ones without flaws and the bad ones being pure evil. Mildly entertaining.

While the actual historical subject discussed in this film is a bit played out the film's look at the traditional reindeer hearding practices of the Sami is lushly handled and a treat to watch. Too bad that this film is not just a look at reindeer and has to be a fairly generic historical epic.
