Bunun filmi yapılmasa ayıp olurdu. Ama konuyu ele alış ve işleyiş olarak, yetersiz kalmış.

Lovely way 2 (re)visit a historic city of world significance: A quirky picture postcard. Some truly beautiful drifting aerial & cat's eye level shots & evocative music. Yet only a 1 watch film & tad superficial. Too much of sad/odd/damaged people talking cod philosophical nonesense. Still heartwarming 2 see them find purpose & joy in helping & clearly sincere connection to cats. 4 me a great doc includes some kind of thesis, data & insight. This lacks that -> pleasurable, cheering 1 view no more

A survey of the human spirit at a time when it's being encroached on all sides by modernism. It's an observation of city life: how it dulls empathy, how it isolates, how it divides us from our nature. The film profiles a handful of stray cats with distinct personalities and human relationships, and through those relationships we gain access to something far removed from the urban experience, a slower paced, more intimate sense of humanity that's slowly fading into an industrialized landscape.

Viewed February 19, 2017. It will restore a bit of your faith in humanity by reaffirming your love for cats. It's hard to lose with a premise like "street cats of Istanbul," but it helps that Ceyda Torun puts such care into her craft, with some particularly inventive choices in the way she shoots and edits the sequences of cats moving about the city. It's not a great movie, maybe, but a necessary one. A brief, shared blast of joy.

Kedi is a cute and light docu about Istanbul's cats, its people, and their relationships. It doesn't have much to say, and when it does try for some more thematic depth, it doesn't quite pull it off. I also couldn't help but compare the cinematography to Planet Earth's "Cities" episode, which is easily superior. Still, I enjoyed Kedi for what it was; a breezy, well-shot, 75-minute cat video.

Kedi is not a documentary. Obviously it is filled with non-sense advertising materials for Istanbul and I am not talking about the cats,I like them but I just can't stand for this movie. Overall, it does not tell any story, just show some cute cats, does not try to create any relation between cats and the people of Istanbul. Seriously, some cool Istanbul shots and some very cute cats.

"A cat meowing at your feet, looking up at you, is life smiling at you. Those are moments when we're lucky, they remind us that we're alive." What a beautiful ending, but also representative of the movie as a whole. You see cute cats and people telling stories about what they do and what their personality is. Does a good job of touching on cultural importance of cats, but if this was longer it would get a little tedious. I threw my critical lense out for this one because it speaks to me and aww.

Very charming doc about stray cats in Istanbul (and I say that as dog person). Besides scenes of cats being cute, it also works as an antidote to modern hectic life.

Nice and extensive photography of some stray cats inhabiting Istanbul, and some interesting glimpses into the lives of the citizens who observe and nurture these cats, and even depend on them as their fellow souls in times of need. Never has the relationship between humans and felines felt so strong and important.

Certainly a film for cat lovers, who will appreciate the sensitivity and awareness that comes from being intimate with many cats over the course of life. This film remains fairly humble, but offers some little sense of how a focused relationship with animals (and anything I suppose) can lead to a sort of spiritual sentiment. A light, endearing, but not contentless film.

There is something really special about the cats of Istanbul; so this movie was long overdue. I did not like it as much as I expected it; maybe the hype was just too much. But they caught really nice stories, wonderful shots and made a really warm movie. Also, some of the stories made me feel good about my people (I'm Turkish); beneath that hard, confrontational shell there is a culture which is compassionate, I wish it showed itself more on a daily basis.

for all it promises, it massively fails to deliver. the result is nothing more than a montage of cats through the eyes of humans giving no insight to their lives nor the ancient city they reside in. filler material.

The streets of Istanbul as seen through the eyes of its feline inhabitants. It's a story of the cats and their human counterparts as told by the cats and not by the humans. Thomas Nagel famously asked; 'what is it like to a bat'? This films gives some sense of what it might be like to be a cat (at least in Istanbul).

Absolutely adore (big screen viewed). It's more than just watching cats' antics gliding through stunning images of Istanbul to fabulous music. The interviews with people describing their experiences w/ the cats is very interesting. In particular SPOILER ALERT** the story of a man who self-cured his mental illness by devoting himself to taking care of stray cats, is oh so touching** That's the theme, animals and people helping each other. Pitter-pitter patter of the ol' heart.

68 where "68" means not brilliant but quite OK for a lazy watch - Cat lovers will add as many points as they like - a rambling picture of middle class Istanbul with no story, using lots of street cats and their human slaves as a connecting thread. Quite watchable, even for non cat freaks, and very scenic.

Obviously, this isn't amovie for someone who doesn't like cats. But for those who own or have owned cats, or just got to know one, it does kind of touch you to the core. Istanbul is a beautiful city and this movie is as much about the city itself as well as the people living there, but most of all, it is about these cats which all have their own, very distinct personalities. It's cute and uplifting. Sometimes we can do with things like that in our lives.

A nice, mostly relaxing film following cats around Istanbul. The mouse scene was a letdown. Fav scene: guy on his day off going around feeding street cats.
