Probably Quentin Dupieux's most accessible film, also his most French. Still, like his other work it certainly isn't for everyone but I'm a big fan. I was laughing my ass off for the entire duration of the film, which is only about 60 minutes without credits. Has great fun with the very concept of flashbacks.

A film that wears its Ionesco, Beckett and Stoppard influences so clearly on its sleeve that its only possible conclusion is to become a literal play. Dupieux is a master at putting banal, well-observed conversations just slightly out of tune, rendering them in equal parts funny and disquieting, and Poelvoorde is, as always, excellent in his usual affably unlikeable role.

Feels like a first act and an ending. Rated probably way too high because it's a very entertaining first act, but really, it's a lot of setup for zero payoff. (Maybe that's the joke. Haha, good joke.)

dupieux play with reality like a cat plays with its prey but the important thing is he's not boring even for a second. somehow he manages to incorporate a kind of behind-the-scenes feeling to his films, which, in turn, turns the film something more than just a funny story - as it necessarily involves commentary about filmmaking and representation. it's just brilliant.

Starts out alright but then I couldn't get rid of the feeling that the movie isn't as absurd as it thinks it is. The acting is nice in the beginning but got on my nerves very quick. The second half was just plain boring.

Brilliant surreal style exercise, bringing to classic interrogation scenes what Rubber brought to horror, that's why. Pretty much stays a one-act play, and I would have loved to go a bit further, that's why. Then again, Wrong Cops bit over too much and this doesn't, so I guess that's why.
