Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain

I never expected that his stand up could be this bad.

An eight-minute montage of "sold out" shows before your actual act, which itself contains way too many shots of the laughing audience and more mentions of "bitches" than "women", is a great way to express that you're a short black comedian with an inferiority complex.

Help me.

The whole intro was terrible. The set itself was decent, but not his best material. I generally like Hart's persona so I still got plenty of laughs, but I still think he's never matched his 2009 I'm a Grown Little Man special.

There once was a more innocent time when that kind of crass, lowball wordplay on a comic stage might have eked out a surprised giggle from an unsuspecting crowd. Especially when supported by the right timing and verve. But there's not even any novelty in such shabby schlock any longer. Let me explain: The whole foul thing just falls flat. (pluggedin.com)

Whuuuuut happened to Hart? He had such promise... then this... and all those movies?

I remember laughing plenty while watching, this but not what I was actually laughing about. Which is just another way of saying: funny, but instantly forgettable.

intro goes on forever and ever and ever. its fine, if not normal, for comedians to talk about the terrible, awful, evil people they are, but it's only funny if you're more self-aware than this nonsense. and the delivery sucked. turned it off after fifteen mirthless minutes(not counting fast-forwarding the TWENTY MINUTE intro)

What a strange and confusing intro...good material though.
