This movie is unhinged. It's incredibly melodramatic, fiercely nationalistic and absurdly violent. It should be called "Crying and Punching", because when people aren't doing the former ... they're doing the latter. Have you ever wanted to see someone's dick torn off and fed to a dog? This is your movie.

Sonny Chiba is Dirty Harry-like figure, who sports a swastika on his kimono and fights all injustice - white devils, Koreans and yakuzas. The fact that this film is remembered by the scenes of either dicks or limbs cut off tells a lot about it.

Be in awe of Sonny Chiba, post-WWII Japan's enraged, hypermasculine id. The man: beats up U.S. forces and yakuza with abandon, and graphically rips off a child rapists', um, tools. (Punchline: a dog eats them!) Keep in mind he also cleans up the town (and, really, the country). This is a Japanese Road House with a kung-fu school instead of a bar. It is also inflammatory violence meant to resolve a maligned sense of Japanese self-worth.
