Pretty much what you'd expect, unless of course you're expecting two time-traveling pony detectives snuggling in a lilac field.

That is NOT King Kong, I don't care what these biased Godzilla creators try to tell you. That is a man in an ape suit. This fight was fixed!

Objectively this is quite bad (Godzilla's used to schlock like this, but Kong's never looked cheaper), but you know the monsters are obviously men in rubber suits so it's hard to complain. Still, this being a battle between 2 legends 1 would have expected better even if its aimed at kids. It's got many goofy plot holes, but the last 5 minutes has a good fight & there's plenty so-bad-its-goodness (you haven't lived until you've seen Asians in "blackface" as island natives).

English cut. The concept is awesome and carries my feelings about the film. The execution is clumsy though. Too much exposition from talking heads including a smug American reporter and wooden scientists talking on the radio while looking right at you. Too many coincidences like kidnapping the sister or lightning reviving King Kong. Fav scene: King Kong fighting the octopus and then just throwing boulders at it.

I read that they filmed two different endings, where Kong wins in America and Godzilla wins in Japan. Seriously? Then I read that it was a myth. I don't get it either way. Godzilla was a bad guy in Japan, supposedly. Who cares if he dies? Other than his mom, of course...

While not at all technically impressive, King Kong vs Godzilla is the best bit of monster fighting fun that I've ever had. It has some super compelling fight scenes and not to mention some of the best cinematography in the franchise so far. It's script is incredibly weak, but who cares, it's a ton of fun.

Saying that the film is preposterous is a foregone conclusion. If Godzilla movies aren't your thing there isn't a single one that will change your mind. It's not nearly as good as the preceding two films but it provides rubber monster entertainment.

The plot is completely dry, but at least it has one. The final battle is worth it just to see King Kong stuff a tree down Godzilla's throat.

Lightning makes King Kong stronger? Huh? Since when? Mindless monster movie with King Kong that doesn't look like King Kong and Godzilla that doesn't look like Godzilla. This is pretty much all camp value, but much moreso than usual with Godzilla.

This clash of titans would probably have been far better had it been made during the second Godzilla series. That being said. The campy tone and amusing battle scenes are impossible to ignore.

As we move further away from the bleak post-war destruction of the original, may as well have a bit of fun in the process. The boulder hurling and comically weird pharma guy were the main draws for sure. The satire of over-the-top TV productions isn't all that obvious to me, but the ridiculous search for an earth-destroying creature as a brand mascot seems to have aged pretty well.

Still not the best Godzilla movie, but it's SO much better in the original Japanese. It's longer, but it's more interesting and I'm pretty sure it has more kaiju action.

Hvad faen er det der gør, at når man ser filmen, synes man, at den er så dårligt lavet og så latterlig amatøragtigt, men alligevel har man senere lyst til at gense den??

Isn't as fun as I remembered it to be. The American added scenes really drags this movie down and explain far too much. The battles between Godzilla and Kong are also not as good as I remembered. It just drags on with Kong just jerking around.

Half a Kong remake, Half a regular old Godzilla film. Silly fights that are fun to watch, but not enough fighting overall. The actual plot and human parts aren't boring though.

The suits and effects are poor, but it's entertaining. This is the only King Kong film I have ever seen. I think Peter Jackson is already working on the remake.

I quite enjoyed the Japanese version. The American cut makes the movie flow horribly, so much so that I had trouble keeping characters straight. It was just confusing all the way around. The Japanese version on the other hand was funny, charming and seemed self-aware. WARNING: the movie contains horrible blackface and it really sucks so you should know about it ahead of time.

(USA version: 65)The highly enjoyable fight between Kong and Godzilla, that lasts a welcome long time, made me forget all about the lazy plot, the implausibilities, the stupid attempts at humor and pacing problems in the proceedings leading up to it. (Japanese version): 68 - While it doesn't solve all problems with the plot. This version is better constructed and paced. Making the satire aspect much more prominent, tho not less subtle. The highlight of this of course still is the titular fight.

Would have been higher, but to appease the Americans and utilise their inferior ape man; they were forced to dumb down the reality of such an epic battle. Does anyone really believe that King Kong would stand a chance against Gojira, the god of all creatures?

Godzilla rises again -- for the first time in color. The effects run hot and cold -- the octopus scenes are pretty creepy -- but this time the dubbing is *purposely* funny ("King Kong won't make a monkey out of us!") and it's all good-natured fun.

It's... certainly a product of it's time. Very impressive Octopus monster. Typical early kaiju fair. "Iconic" but nothing really groundbreaking.

This is pretty dumb, which is precisely why I like it. Not the best in the Godzilla chain, but still a billion times more entertaining than what dreams may come

I would rate it lower but it needs to be given credit for being what it set out to be; a schlocky, rubber-costumed, contrived, poorly-dubbed mess. You don't go into a film like this expecting Gandhi. But even so, some of the schlock is still poorly done, making it a difficult watch at times. Only watch this film if you're OK yelling "Why??" at the screen numerous times.

Japanese cut. As always it doesn't need nearly as many human scenes as it thinks it does, but some of the shots during the kaiju fights are as serene and surreal as the series gets. They really started getting weird with these things after this, but through technical necessity you get some very strange images that resonate.

The first Godzilla film in color and widescreen, and the first to not take itself entirely seriously. I like all these things about it. I also like how well paced and action packed the film is. Unlike its immediate predecessor, Godzilla Raids Again, this film has numerous awesome scenes spread across its runtime. Lots of the effects look really crappy, but that doesn't prevent the fights from being uproariously entertaining. I enjoyed this even more than I expected to. Highly entertaining.

Why does the U.S. always cut and add to movies in an attempt to "Americanize" them?! All they're doing is ruining them!! Also, pretty sure I saw Japanese people in black face.
