Credible main character and nice photos, but dull. I found it hard to care for what happened.

A decent coming-of-age story featuring a cast of eccentric characters in a remote Swedish town. Much of the film is quite by-the-book and clichéd: plump teenage boy with parental issues, no or few friends, possible love interest, etc. But in the end, the broken family issues it boils down to are presented in a surprisingly thoughtful and nuanced way. I was quite impressed by the director's skilful touch at balancing drama and comedy.

The world from a point of view of a growing child - how he copes with divorced parents and lack of acceptation from the peers. Nothing spectacular, but a solid and promising debut.

With bleached out pastel colours and dramatic backround music pingpongkingen is a odd and charming piece of everyday realism.
