Watchable, but not all that good. Was expecting something in the vein of Re-Animator, Gordon's great horror-comedy, but just found a film that was very boring much of the time. However, there are a few disturbing sequences that show how good the film could've been had it been sustained.

Gordon began his 'horrors of reality' trilogy with K.O.T.A, a character driven exploitation film with a seemingly darwinian viewpoint. McKenna gives a decent performance as Sean, a young man in over his head who takes brutal revenge on his employer and his cronies for beating him senseless. It's ugly looking, but the low rent no style style suits the material, and its most effective in the scenes with Wuhrer where Sean's motives remain ambiguous. Shame the ending reeks of trendy nihilism.

Boring most of time, but there was a kick in the middle of the movie. Cool hallucinations during *it*. The title was one of the stupidiest for a long time. It was explained in the flick but story could have more suitable name. Yeah, the title was catchy kind of; the reason why I choose this film. :7

This is an odd hybrid of the crime film direction Stuart Gordon has been working in lately and the horror he has developed a reputation for. Nowhere near as polished as later outings like Edmond or Stuck, King of the Ants is pretty good nonetheless.

This film began with a interesting enuff story, but quickly moved into disturbing areas in which the protaginist is submited to gleefuly sadistic torture and apathy by the antagonists.Sick movie..stay away.

Though its production values and the odd performance can be found in the bargain basement, I can't say I was bored for one ugly, harrowing second of this lean, unusual amoeba of pulpy crime thriller and French Extremity-style horror. It also dabbles as a nihilistic character study, an area Stuart Gordon would cultivate to mastery in his more recent David Mamet adaptation Edmond.

Good first half, second half marred by a few bits of nonsense but nothing too bad. On the whole I think it really benefits from not being too slick, over-stylized or gruesome. It just has that quaint pulpy roughness that you see in Stuart Gordon's work, and an uncompromisingly good cast. Very nice little revenge thiller.

This grotesque movie has really stuck with me a lot more than other films I have seen from this era. Great acting from George Wendt and Daniel Baldwin in this one.
