So I didn't like the portrayal of the U.S. President, but that was kind of the purpose. Other than that, I thought this was a worthy sequel to an already great movie, even if it doesn't hit the hype. The first movie was unexpectedly good and I think that's why people expected a lot from this. It's not a bad sequel. I found it to be just as funny and as entertaining. You should like this if you enjoyed the first movie.

There were two other people in the theater, one on his phone the entire film and one an old man who would make strange guttural moans every couple couple minutes and who, when a female character took her robe off, screamed "yeah baby, wooh"

The 1st film managed to somehow be both a parody of Bond films & yet a highly entertaining, exciting Bond film of its own. It also praised some traditionally western ideas about social mores which is cathartic nowadays. There's no real parody this time since it attempts to to mimic the original with minor variations (instead of an unlikely tech-geek villain we get an unlikely 50's mom villain) but it isn't cathartic. Since the jokes didn't land (for me) it just seems silly & forgettable.

Knowing nothing about the comics, the Kingsman movies bear a striking resemblance to what the kookiness of Austin Powers would look like if it weren't a parody, and that's a very strange world indeed. This one might be a touch more ridiculous than the first, but that's par for the course and no less entertaining as a result. Check it out, it's a good time.

I enjoy this one a whole lot more than the critical consensus. Admittedly I'm a huge classic James Bond fanboy so I'm very willing to overlook some of the film's more obvious flaws - lazily reviving a dead character from the last film, some Spider-Man 3-esque subplot fever - for the simple and nostalgic pleasure of good old colorful globetrotting save-the-world spy adventure in the classic Connery/Moore vein.

*RR* Lightning in a bottle is something that few manage to capture even once. Matthew Vaughn was one of those lucky few, shocking everyone with his elaborate, outlandish, and deeply funny spy subversion, "Kingsman: The Secret Service". But the problem with surprising an audience is that it's very hard to do twice, and "The Golden Circle" is none of the things the first was. In fact, it's a tired pastiche of them. Far from the worst sequel of the year, but perhaps the most disappointing.

I think it's undeniable that this is in most ways a step down from SS, but I can't pretend that I'm deeply disappointed by that. I still had a really good time with the story, characters, and action. Julianne Moore, if anything, only gets more attractive, and plays crazy here well. Vaughn is still mostly on-point, and despite lacking the one statement scene (ie. the church in Kingsman 1), from top to bottom, this remains a really good movie with lots of places to go from here for the franchise.

It's sure run with the quirkier moments of the first film and then some. Another crazy outing with a farfetched plot and odd comedic moments, but this one pushes buttons a little more with how much you can tolerate some of the more crude and smutty scenes. While I feel this could have been reined in a tad and trimmed a little in length, I did laugh quite a bit and it's all just a bit of silly fun really.

Despite adjusted expectations, Golden Circle proved a big disappointment and a really poor follow up to the original 'Secret Service'. They bring back Firth but gimp his character for most of the film, and similarly introduce a promising supporting character (Tatum) before immediately sidelining him. Why not just leave both out and shorten the overly lengthy run time? There are some good ideas here but the final cocktail produced by Golden Circle is very flat.

This is a decent, if derivative sequel & I had fun with it. The action scenes were truly awesome and entertaining, even if I don't always like the editing and digital trickery. Firth returning is incredibly contrived, and I didn't even think we needed him. Moore makes a brilliant villain. Elton John really cannot act, but I did find him quite fun. The representations and take-downs of certain aspects of American culture were great, too.

The first Kingsman film offered a refreshing novelty to the spy genre that it's sequel unsurprising could not surpass. With the Golden Circle, you get more action, more explosions and more clichés. Superficially, this sequel criticises the War on Drugs, where the first dealt with Climate Change. But where the first had themes of succeeding through prejudice, this sequel just feels shallow. The film is entertaining, a little CGI heavy, but not memorable enough.

First one was a surprise for all of us. It was a very well-done James Bond parody with a great satirical humor. Golden Circle becomes, however, its own parody. It does everything they were mocking in the first movie and none of the jokes seem to be funny. It's not incredibly bad. With any other director, I wouldn't even care but I'm just disappointed in Matthew Vaughn.

Maybe the worst movie I've seen in theaters this year. The first one was a nice surprise - an arcade version of James Bond, with humor, (obvious) satire, and a semblance of self-awareness. The sequel : diet Kingsman. There's three narrative strands and none of them belong. The sense of disbelief from the first is totally gone as the film departs into its own painfully convoluted reality. The villain gets out of her chair maybe twice the whole movie. Awful, even by Hollywood blockbuster standards

They didn't dose it well; the cheekiness, action and the story does not mesh as well as the first one (the first one was not that great either). But this one is really overcooked; chewy and burnt here and there. It has lots of forced action sequences, and even though they tried some innovative things with such scenes, it feels more like watching CGI figure skating. I will pass on the third movie I think.

The Golden Circle is more of the same for Kingsman fans; frantically over the top, completely ridiculous but outlandishly fun. Just like it's predocessor this sequel is tonally all over the place with it's cartoonish story telling and action scenes tailor made for younger audiences but a ridiculously long run time, excessive bad language and vulgar comedy that leaves a nasty taste. A common problem with sequels to successful comedies is the need to increase the pace, and it happens here to a degree where the film starts to get annoying. I also dislike this movies handling of deaths as something frivolous. It was obviously the right thing to reintroduce Firth, but it is problematic to remove the consequence of dying, while asking the audience to care for all other characters that dies. That being, said there is still a lot of fun to be had here.

It doesn't have that one church moment, but the beginning comes close; I LOVED this in the first 20 minutes because they were like, "Oh you love action, let's get to it boys." It just didn't maintain that momentum; it overplayed Elton John (but some lines were funny), the action wasn't quite as exciting, Tatum was underused. This first one holds a dear place in my heart, for which I will not apologize. Buuut
It's getting stale fast, ain'it? Still a fun ride, but I wouldn't mind getting off here. Killing off everyone was a jerk move (JB! No! *sobs) and trying to shake it up by bringing it to the US of A is
Well, cowboyhats aren't as cool as suits, although that electric lasso was neat. And my reaction to seeing Harry was the same as Eggsy's.

The action is pretty damn good but it can't carry the whole movie.

A movie obsessed with saying fuck and with Elton John. There is probably a thesis to be written about Elton's presence in this movie - equal measure high-camp and contempt - that explains the vast difference between this and the original film. What was once comic is now callous. The fingerblast tracking device is the only thing that came close to topping the original in sheer WTF absurdity that forces you to laugh at what you just saw. The rest tries (too hard) to force you to laugh.

Entertainment: 3.5/4 -- some very cool sequences, but unnecessarily violent. Spirituality: 0.5/3. Sustainability: 0.5/3.

Weak sequel feels as if it could have stood one more pass through the editing machine - at almost 2.5 hours, this should have been much brisker; a tendancy to underline and over-explain gags ad nauseum kills most of the humour (an opening cannibalism gag is the nadir of this tendency). An eclectic cast is given little to do; even Elton's much ballyhooed cameo is a one-note waste of time (apparently he has a habit of telling everyone to 'fuck off'). Some amusing moments keep it barely watchable.
