In the heart of the demonic Paris of the late 70s, Anne (Vanessa Paradis) made a career by producing pornographic films. Brilliant giallo recreation with some good performance that can't quite overcome a messy script. Which I guess is also faithful to the giallo genre.

Creates a nice enough atmosphere, but its story is too close to the genre nonsense it portrays to be truly captivating. Music and colors are very reminiscent of Les Rencontres de Minuit - and only now do I see it's actually the same director, which makes this movie even less impressive.

This was like Argento meets Phantom of the Paradise. I'm still a little perplexed of what i thought of this. M83's score was great and I wish it got utilized more. Lot of memorable scenes and found the black/white edits a nice touch.

a modern gialli that wears it influences well, but has some pacing issues and misses real tension. Worth it for the style and Vanessa Paradis.

Um, no. I understand what it was trying to do, but it had no tension and please for real pick between arthouse pic and thriller instead of failing at both.

Great directing, unfortunately there’s little else to praise. It tries to be so many different things, slasher, mystery, drama, art film, that none of them are given enough time to really work. It’s alright as an art film, and the slasher moments are decent at first, but the film feels so disjointed and the pacing is a bit on the slow side. It has its merits, but overall it could’ve been much better.

Late 1970s Giallo update that relies mostly on Vanessa' powerful screen presence and its erotic thriller thrills -- we never see anything explicit, but the film is vivid in both sexual and violent imagery. Porn producer caught up by a series of murders of her own actors, until some of them avenge the dead in a night at the movies. Too bad the second half is not visually as striking as the first.

Gonzalez continues to show promise, but he still has trouble transcending his influences. There's rarely a moment when I wouldn't rather be watching a Gregg Araki or '80s Almodovar film (or, in this case, add Dario Argento to the list). Still, if these are your go-to reference points, you're doing something right in my book.

I really like De Palma and Gialli films which this is paying homage to, so it seemed like tailor made for me. Sadly, after the promising start which captures the sleazy atmosphere, it becomes clear that Gonzalez is not really pushing any boundaries here - it's like a tamer version of those earlier films, and eventually it's ruined by the silly script. Vanessa Paradis does a good job as the lead and the score by M83 is very good. Hopefully Gonzalez lets someone else handle the writing next time.
