Even as a serious baseball fan & romanticist, I had trouble getting through the first half. It got better once the focus shifted towards the sense of fraternity and survival among these cross-generational fish out of water. But as individuals, their portrayal is as grossly uninteresting as their redemptive pitching style is interesting. I'm not sure a full Herzog treatment was necessary here, but something more could've been done with the material.

Cool documentary about a very interesting pitch. It ends up being more about the careers of Wakefield and Dickey but is still interesting. Was hoping there would be more technical stuff about how the pitch actually works.

Incredibly badly-assembled doc with no focus or through-line. The subject matter is fantastic, though, and it's great to see Hough, Neikro and Bouton on screen

This is a very pretty and well-produced documentary, but the subject matter got boring to me early on and by the end I was glad to be done with it. Too much meandering personal drama for my taste. I would have preferred more time devoted to the mechanics, the history, and maybe some more candid interviews with batters/managers/sportswriters that love/hate the pitch. Everything this doc taught me could have been done in 20 minutes.

Interesting if slight look into the history of the knuckleball. It's really only enough information for a short but works best by profiling two interesting careers and asking the question 'what's next?' It also touches on the notion of fairweather fans being too fickle when it comes to the athletes they follow, which would have been an interesting avenue to follow.

A neat look at Wakefield and Dickey. The most compelling aspect is their shared experience of struggling to make the big leagues, and having to essentially fall back on what many consider a gimmicky pitch destined for outsiders. Glaringly absent was any discussion of the physics of the pitch itself, which is equally fascinating and would have rounded out this doc well.
