Nazi Germany, being beaten badly on all fronts with manpower and resources streched thin, still commits to producing this propaganda film as it goes down in flames. Kolberg provides an excllent glimpse into the Nazi psyche of the Endkampf, the final struggle, and their willingness to sacrifice everything.

Kolberg (1945) was the Nazis last war cry. And you can sense the desperate propaganda being thrown at you. Most Nazi sponsored movies were kind of subtle about their message. This one wasn't. This one was delivered in a nervous fashion. Doesn't matter how much they tried to cover it up with in color and lavish settings. The message was a loss, as the war, and it's really interesting to witness the Nazis loss of confidence.
