Kuffs

The uneven tone kills this one, with the attempted comedy and dour violence undercutting each other at every turn. Unremarkable and tiresome.

Slater coasted on his image as the cocky charismatic king of cool, and Kuffs is theoretically a tailor made vehicle for his slacker schtick, which inevitably had a short shelf life. It's a shame then that the script lacks the snappy dialogue that Slater was good at delivering, and the direction is bog standard. The electronic theme is also a blatant Beverly Hills Cop rip off, which simply reinforces the dreary 80's hangover vibe. Slater tries, but the weak material betrays him at every turn.

Slater makes a copious amount of Jack Nicholson -eyes while addressing the movie watchers. Some of the jokes are funny enough and the entire movie is not really horrible, but not quite the riot, either.

More annoying Slater Nicholson rip offs and a terribly paced film. Had he played this straight it might have been more entertaining. Most of the points are for Jovovich dancing in her underpants.

Dumb, but fun.

Horrendous and unnecessary

A goofy film with lots of fourth-wall breaking. Ends up being smarmy and not a good film. Luckily Slater isn't too obnoxious when he talks to the camera, but why? It doesn't help the lame story at all.

Underwhelming, unfunny, badly edited, badly directed.
