Jack Black actually slept with pandas to learn how a panda would make a pretty boring third entry in an otherwise okay franchise.

'Kung Fu Panda 3' is both a satisfying and disappointing conclusion to the series. While it ends on a note that will surely leave viewers with a smile on their face and a feeling that their time hasn't been wasted, this movie also feels like the series' most juvenile entry, and its relatively light on dramatic weight and martial arts action. That being said, the art and animation's as strong as one would expect, what action is present is exciting, and the heart of the trilogy is still strong.

A sequel with a playful spirit and some laughs, but a bit less going on under the hood than the first two films. Despite talking up all his godlike spirit world uber-chi powers, the villain is not as interesting or intimidating as Tai Lung from the original or Shen from KFP2. It's getting tougher for them to sell Po as an underdog. But there's still some fun to be had. I was groovin' to the Kung Fu Fighting song in the final montage.

Good but not amazing. It's a great children's movie that keeps the laughs flowing consistently but loses points for a predictable ending.

Kung Fu Panda 3 suffers from franchise fatigue, but is a solid entry nonetheless. The animation, voice acting and jokes all work well, for the most part. The weakest element, for me, had to be the pandas who allow for predictable hijinks and rehashed jokes. Unfortunately parts of this film feel lazy and rushed; Luckily the climax provides the action, humour and feels that franchise is known for, ending the film on a high.

Though weakest of the three as far as story goes, the components that give us such fondness about these panda adventures are still in place---stellar animation, dauntless heart & playful humor.

I was pleasantly surprised. It’s humor actually worked quite a bit for me and the story/villain were sufficient. Pretty good ending as well.

I personally found it to be a really satisfying capper to the series. It wasn’t at all the story I was expecting, but I actually loved seeing all of the pandas, Bryan Cranston rules, J.K. Simmons played a great baddie as usual, and the choreography shines once again. It’s really Po’s arc and character that makes the movie, but it is also beautifully animated and directed. A surprisingly necessary sequel.

Definitely a downward turn for this trilogy, but not irredeemable by any means. While there's too much focus on comedy and not enough on creating the epic atmosphere of the last two, the comedy is very cute and funny. The battles themselves are inventive and fun, even if the music doesn't match the intensity. The story and characters are still touching, the villain is intimidating, and that very last scene was definitely a beautiful way for the story to end.

Despite some pacing issues, side characters being relegated to almost non-existence in the face of Po's central character arc and a bit of same ol' same ol', Kung Fu Panda 3 is a successful visual splendour for all ages to enjoy, brimming with colourfully detailed worlds, enthusiastic voice performances and enjoyable themes.

I think it's time to put this series to rest now. That's not to say I disliked this one - it was fine. But it's all just feeling tired by this third movie. The plot is super generic in this one, with the usual morals put forth for kids. There were a few laughs, but not many. The voice cast do well, but so many characters get only a handful of lines that their presence seems slightly pointless. The animation is nice, and there were moments that were really beautiful.

Kung Fu Panda 3 can best be described as "another one." It's just a slight variation of the story told in the first film, but with more pandas and magical chi used to try to differentiate the two. The supporting cast is pushed aside for Jack Black, there isn't a ton of action, and most of its themes are so obvious that even the child paying attention the least won't miss them. But it's pretty funny, it's got some beautiful animation, the vocal work is solid, and it contains a good subplot.

Despite what I'd heard, this was still quite good, if not exactly up to par with the first 2 films. It still has the charms and the fun(ny), but the story has become a little repetitive. There are still great moments in this though, and has there ever been a better casting choice for an animation character than Jack Black as Po?

The best of the PANDA films to date is highlighted by a genuinely touching examination of biological vs adoptive parental figures in Po's life, as well as a terrific villain in Simmons, who plays the role to the hilt. As usual, Jolie, Rogen, Liu, Cross and Chan are given surprisingly little to do aside from being foils to the boisterous Black, though Hoffman gets his usual good licks in.

Looking back at my reviews for the first two films, it seems this is a steady if unspectacular and forgettable series of films. It has a few funny moments and a few visual treats but most of it just doesn't inspire excitement even if it luckily never inspired boredom either. I didn't mind watching it, even enjoyed it a bit but there's nothing in it I really care about.

When Po's long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible-learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas.

Very nice, stylistic montages (of which there are like, six) and... that's about it. The action isn't as good as in the previous installments, the villain is the worst by miles, and the character development is infinitesimal. The titular character was never the highlight for me, so I'm not thrilled about spending time in a whole village of him. I don't want to hear Jack Black say "whoa" ever again, and I feel very content getting off the Kung Fu Panda franchise train at this station.

The story was lacking and mostly a retread of the worst of the first two movies. The Pandas were all fat, lazy and stupid and of course this like most other kids movie also featured a "retarded" character. The graphic were the best of the series but since the story stank and no one aside from Po really gets screen time this was reduced to an Average movie that really didn't need to be made. Let's hope they stop here.

Kung Fu Panda 3 is an enjoyable sequel and I think this third instalment cements Kung Fu Panda as not the best, but the most consistent Dreamworks franchise. The material is no doubt running out of ideas and other than the gimmick of more pandas, there's not much else that differentiates this film from its predocessors. That said though I still really enjoy these films, the characters and set pieces are great fun, the animation is stellar and once again Hans Zimmer's score is outstanding.

As a huge fan of the first two the first hour was very disappointing as it played more like a film purely aimed at young kids. The last half hour picked up significantly but it's still clearly the weakest of the trilogy for me. Cranston and Simmons were miscast and I felt it didn't reach the benchmark of animation set by the first two.

Best visuals in the trilogy, but the worst villain by far. Weak story, but enjoyable - especially when you got a couple of dozens of Pandas and master Oogway. 1 > 3 >>> 2 (you know it's true)

So beyond all the roundhouse kicks and jade arrows that fly through the air with a light, not-quite-threatening feel, it's that yin-yang spirit world stuff that will probably leave parents feeling the most concerned. And there does seem to be an extra dollop of it this go-round with the reappearance of the deceased Master Oogway and bad guy Kai's capturing of magical chi powers. (pluggedin.com)

Closer to the quality of Kung Fu Panda 1 than 2, the third film has its moments but they're basically just "Pandas are fat" jokes for 90 minutes. Jack Black is still amazing. Bryan Cranston is still the most unappealing addition to everything he does.

So... I haven't seen the other two. Just like when I went to Fast & Furious 6, first I'd seen in the series, the group chose this one and I was outnumbered. It seemed decent, I guess? One or two sequences were really stylishly animated. But there were an awful lot of characters, some of which I assume get actual proper introductions in the other movies.

Overall a more one-dimensional affair than the first two films that I unashamedly have something of a soft spot for. The script and story don't quite match-up to the previous instalments. That said, playfully fun it most certainly is, as well as being undoubtedly entertaining. The animation is as good as anything yet pumped out by any of the major studios and the musical score deserves a mention too, because it's outstanding,

It's nothing spectacular &, much like the first sequel, never matches the original, but it's stronger than Part 2 overall & has much more to like even if none of it is especially original. Po's birth father & the story surrounding their relationship, as well as the two dads bonding, are the big highlights. The cast turn in solid voice performances, with JK Simmons shining as Kai & Jack Black once again being great as Po. While not amazing, it's definitely enjoyable & has a nice emotional touch.

The visual style is nice if a bit different from the first two, but the characters don't have the same chemistry, and while the story has some fun ideas it seems unfinished. The worst part of the film though is the villain. Kai looks great and his backstory is decent, but he is neither threatening nor interesting, and he is completely forgettable. Kai was a huge downgrade from Lord Shen. It's completely serviceable, I just don't care for it.

I liked the two first movies, but this is growing stale. We've already seen Po find his inner whatever and this feels less like him achieving enlightenment and more like him simple gaining a level in a RPG. We've also had enough jokes about Po eating a lot and they do not get funnier when reused under the guise of ALL pandas eat a lot. Like, wow, who would've thunk? Add to that a totally forgettable villain. The pretty animation and a few good gags are just not enough to save this.

Right off the bat. It's still a good and funny movie. It still contains a lot of the heart the series is known for. It just can't quite stand up to the first two as far as pacing and style. The new characters are great and increased role of James Hong makes this one a lot less forgettable than it could have been.

Never been a particularly big fan of the series, but as kids movies go you could do a lot worse. You could also do a lot better. This movie also did little to shake off the feeling that the franchise is a little ignorant of, and subsequently insulting to, the cultures it tries to represent. It does, however, nail the important, if easy, tropes about family.

As colourful and creatively animated as always (see the unique multi-panel training montage, trippy climactic trip to the spirit world) but with heightened humour ("Even Master Chicken's going in, and he's a chicken!") and emotion (the two-dad arc is a touching one: "Dads!") this time around, often taking place within the same wonderful moment (see the two-dad fighting combo; chi circle: "You taught us to be who we were meant to be. A dad" "A friend" Granny panda: "A lethal fighting machine").
