It's no instant classic by any stretch and it falls leagues short of Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille, but compared to Dreamworks' recent films (Shrek 3, Shark Tale, Bee Movie), it's a damn masterpiece. It isn't clogged with ANY annoying pop culture references, and although a couple celebrity voices awkwardly stick out, Jack Black actually does a funny job. The infinite potential of animation is taken advantage of to produce some pretty cool fight scenes.

Even though it's set in China, this story of a fat, lazy wannabe achieving his dreams by exploiting his "chosen one" status speaks to the American in all of us.

Stunning animation and art direction. A real step up for Dreamworks in story and quality; if they can sustain this, then Pixar might finally (almost) have some competition.

A really colorful, friendly, fun and beautiful animated film, with some suprisingly mesmerizing action scenes and even has a few laughs along the way! The characters all have a different personality and their all unique! Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black did a good job voice acting. Overall, a thrilling and amazing family movie that will make you feel like a kid again!

I had a lot of good laughs in this one, most kids movies can't do that for me, but this appeals to all audiences. It's fun, and sweet, with things for even the action people. All-in-all a movie with so many different facets and each of them is expertly done.

Very fun family film and certainly the best to come from Dreamworks. Obviously it will be compared to Pixar's work and I still think they're top dog in CGI films but that doesn't mean you should give Kung-Fu Panda a miss. Jack Black does fantastic voice work and the rest of the cast is very well chosen. My only real criticism is that with such a stellar cast you wish they had a decent amount of screen time and only Po (Jack Black) does.

As for 3D cgi studio flicks goes this is right below Pixar wizardy and above mostly anything else including Shrek, Ice Age for me. Technically it's pretty shiny and worked on but how it got to me is something entirely different. Shaolin monk movies I watched on video as a child was the definition of ubermengness for me. The way Kung Fu Panda fits Budistic derivations is entertaining and stays just enough away from making a gag of it that makes sense with geek adolescent figuring out life plot.

Fun movie. It tells its story well, but the best parts are the characters and the fun visual manner in which the story plays out. There are some great gags here and it is definitely something that parents can watch with their children and thoroughly enjoy.

Has its moments—the turtle and goose dad are great and it starts strong—but an unremarkable story and a few frustrating tropes (food as motivation for a fat person, a capable woman supplanted by a hapless man) get in the way. In the end, nothing more than decent.

Surprisingly good considering Dreamworks has had a spotty track record. Most of the celebrity voices are pointless, but Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black did a good job. The backgrounds are breathtaking. It's also nice that the scriptwriters didn't throw in unnecessary pop culture references which would have instantly dated the picture.

What a surprise! I was expecting a funny, goofy movie - which it was - but I wasn't expecting a good story and good characters, which it also was! Good animation and great music and scenery add so much to this film, but the story was delightful to begin with. Great voice-overs, too. I laughed, and - well, I didn't cry, but I was moved, and I thought the movie did a good job of taking a well-known theme and "message" and conveying it in a fun, different way. Definitely worth the viewing!

Kung-Fu Panda is predictable as the tides. That alone should not deter enjoyment of the film. It's flawlessly animated and voiced. The story is heartwarming and epic towards the end. The humor works the bulk of the time and the hero is complex and lovable til the end.

Top tier Dreamworks Animation Studios. It's fast, exciting, throughly entertaining, and one of the few occasions where I'll admit the main characters heavy weight actually makes me laugh. In all actuality, this is really well directed and perfectly cast. It feels a lot like a martial arts movie and more thanks to the animators. I also loved the movies themes and message. Everyone working on this movie just got it. No reply issues here. Go watch it!

While Kung Fu Panda fails to cash in on some of its potential, it prooves to be very enjoyable. A lack of pop culture in a film shouldn't be a refreshing change, but this is one individual to push out the boat a little for creative film making. The casting sounds good from the off, fitting the wacky styling of the film. Coupled with some good martial arts hommages, good action scenes and some imput of humour, it's one of the proportionally few CGI films of recent years worthy of special note.

Excellent movie. Had a great lot of fun! Sprinkled with good philosophical aphorisms. Sparing a few cliches and the main thematic chasing-your-dreams cliche, which is one of the handful and the most traveled theme for current crop of animation films, a delightfully original and funny movie.

One of my favorite animated films. It's action scenes are unparalleled to any other animated film. The story is silly, yet quite engaging. Jack Black voices Po perfectly, and the film is humorous throughout. The villain is slightly forced on us towards the end of the film as the majority of the conflict is Po trying to find acceptance from his master and the furious 5, but it's a small complaint to a great film. Do yourself a favor and watch this gem.

Unless you're a fan of fat jokes, the humour doesn't do much to spice up what is very much a predictable, seen-before "unlikely hero" story, just in a different context. Fortunately, said context is beautifully animated and said story is broken up by numerous large sequences of stunningly rendered and superbly creative kung-fu action. Boosted by Hoffman's strong voice work, Shifu's touching arc (see his farewell to Oogway by the tree) also adds a compelling secondary character element.

Beautiful choreography and appreciation of the era and theme in question make this film an enjoyable watch. What takes away from it is the idea that even at his peak of greatness, the perfect warrior is still a bumbling fool. A plot device that plagues current 3D films, keeping something that could be visually awesome just short of such. The story felt a tiny bit rushed and cramped inside of a tiny fragment of an otherwise exciting and curious world.

The humor is it's strength. Most of the cast turns in a days work at most so I'll turn all the credit over to Hoffman and especially Black. He's a terrific voice actor, and the animators have done an incredible job of subtle and less than subtle visual notes to the characters expression that bring so much life to the jokes it can almost make you forget you're watching a chubby animated panda do impossible wire-fu

Dubbed by the excellent comedian Jack Black, that supplied to him some of the movements and dialogs besides the voice of Panda "Po". The direction of art is amazing, the graphic computation is the most beautiful, it calls attention to the least plastic details and extremely colorful, in the oriental style. An script without great claims, full of action and mood, an honest result and guarantee of great entertainment.

I loved IRONMAN. I mention that because I happened to see KUNG FU PANDA right after it, the same afternoon, as part of a double-bill offered by my Film Society, and I came away thinking, 'What a great day of movies!' ...It's "apples" and "oranges", but I actually think this is a better film than IRONMAN. Sensational artwork; incredible martial arts choreography; and the best 'law of physics' I've seen represented in an animated film. LOVED IT!

Its a kids film, nothing but and entertaining for it. The story ain't especially new and if you don't like Jack Black take about 50 off this score, but its still likable and fairly inoffensive. My one gripe is that the Furious Five (M CCCCCs... sorry) don't get enough time talking. This is strange given the calibre of person they got for the roles. (Jackie Chan can speak English folks) And finally, Lovejoy! is in it.

A predictable story we've all seen before, the training montage was pretty forgettable and Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen and David Cross' voices just don't work. However, it's still damn good, easily the best Dreamworks animation to date. The animation is fantastic, the attention to detail really pays off, the kung fu is really cool and it's all around fun for all. I really wasn't expecting it to be this good given how much I dislike the Shrek series.

Still Jack Black being Jack Black. What the best animated feature films do is live within their own movie. Referencing the jokes and pop culture of it's time, Kung-fu Panda proves once again why Shrek and many other Dreamworks films are substandard and dated. This brings nothing new to the table, but sold a lot of merchandise to elementary school aged boys.

An enjoyable kids' film which makes good use of lively, colourful and detailed visuals to cover up for its lack of story or character depth. The level of artistry in the Ancient China-themed backgrounds is a joy to watch, and there are a number of cute visual references to the kung-fu genre. With some of the voice acting a bit lacklustre, and a strong emphasis on manic action scenes rather than witty wordplay, this is definitely one for the 8-year-old boy in all of us, rather than mature adults.

Finally Dreamworks manage to come up with an original idea, & then to further improve things the writing is excellent and is devoid of all the pop-culture references and horrible negative stereotypes that other Dreamworks productions are full of. The voice acting is pretty good, Jack Black in particular is supurb, and the martial art fight scenes are suprisingly fun & well thought out. Very funny and very entertaining.
