Kung Pow: Enter the Fist is a movie within a movie, created to spoof the martial arts genre. Writer/director Steve Oedekerk uses contemporary characters and splices them into a 1970s kung-fu film, weaving the new and old together. As the main character, The Chosen One, Oedekerk sets off to avenge the deaths of his parents at the hands of kung-fu legend Master Pain. Along the way, he encounters some strange characters, one of which is a cow trained in the martial arts. (imdb)

I'm a pretty silly guy and there are times when that silliness translates into generating laughs from other people. There are also times when that silliness lends itself to weeks worth of embarrassment. Deciphering the difference before I've acted on my impulses is a daily struggle. This is the most extreme example of this struggle ever filmed. And to be honest, it leaves me wanting to be less silly. A comedy that extinguishes your personal quest for laughs.

What a train-wreck disaster. This isn't a parody or spoof, it's a mockery. The bastardisation and butchering of great Shaw gems with this nonsense american crap...! There's nothing positive to say about it.

Steve Oedekerk delivers some great gags but by the end it's just very repetitious. It's a good film if you enjoy kung-fu flicks and wouldn't mind sitting through a satire of them. But honestly by the end you're going to be tired of the same jokes over and over. Also Steve Oedekerk's thumbs make an appearance for absolutely no reason at the end. It feels tacked on, out of place and just downright silly.

Most of the redubbed scenes are hilarious in a brain injury kind of way. The rest of it is so, so bad. The cow part is the worst thing I've ever seen in a comedy and I watched both Deuce Bigalow films. Obviously if you're going to watch this, smoke a whole bunch of weed beforehand.

Ehhh, it was the funniest movie ever when I was 11, but all the good ol' gags that I remember from this I now realise are horribly executed through an atrocious attempt at funny dialogue/delivery. This is one of the shabbiest film productions on top of being an awful comedy.

It almost feels wrong giving Kung Pow such a low score because it was clearly a labour of love, and the concept had enormous potential in the right hands. i.e anyone else's hands other than Oedekerk's. He looks right in the lead due to his dorky features, and there are some wonderfully inspired moments of random humour ('That's a lot of nuts!'), but his gags are too repetitive and simple to sustain a feature. He should have made a series of skits based on the same theme instead of a film.

One of my all time favorite comedy movies, the movie is so unapologetically stupid that it's hilarious. Probably not a clever or good comedy by any means, but fuck, did I ever laugh while watching it. Betty is still one of my favorite villains in any movie ever.

I know that most of the things that I've heard about KP have been very negative. But for some reason I LOVED this movie. The dubbing (maybe not very original) of an old movie with new voices is hilarious. And it's just fucking goofy.

It's hard to judge a film that's so gleefully stupid and so willing to dispense with anything that would cramp the anarchy. The better question is, how fun is it? It's hugely quotable ("Oh, Taco Bell, Taco Bell, product placement with Taco Bell..." is just one of many), and when it's old TIGER AND CRANE FIST footage with Oedekerk's tweaks, it usually scores. When it focuses on all-new footage, though, it tends to be kind of lame. Still, I have to recommend it, if mostly for sentimental reasons.

To be fair, it takes a very high IQ to understand Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Steve Oedekerk's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

What a frustrating film. What was initially hilarious (and almost matched naked gun/hot shots at points) very quickly degenerated into dull switch out of dialogue and repeated jokes. Found myself wishing for it to end (although the kung pow 2 trailer at the end was actually better than most of the rest of the film).

A good idea for a 5 minute sketch unwisely blown up to feature length – Oedekerk tries (and tries) but the film is ultimately too contrived and overdone to work; much of the redubbing of the old footage is forced and not particularly clever, and the decision to film the new footage with unconvincing overdubbing is the ultimate hat-on-a-hat. Shows that a self-aware “bad” movie is usually a failure because of the ultimate artifice involved.

We trained him wrong... as a joke! This film is a mixed bag of awesome and terribleness. When this movie is hitting its stride, it is probably one of the funniest things I've seen in my life. Then it hits a scene that is really generic or not funny at all. It's a roller-coaster of pure laughter and rolling your eyes at the bad joke writing...

I love this film. When it came out there were a lot people who were mad about the replacement of Jimmy Wang Yu's head for that of Steve Oedekerk. I guess they didn't get the whole point of the film. Even though much of the humor is childish, I loved it. My brother and I saw this in the theater the day it opened and were on the floor from laughing so hard. The film isn't going to change your views on spoofs or humor, but it will make you laugh, even if for a little bit.

Yes I can see what they were trying to do here, but this really didn’t work for me. I dunno it just felt like it was trying to hard to be funny and it came out unnatural I guess? Also using stupid voices isn’t automatically funny. Not without complete merit, but it was quite a chore to get through, honestly. Humour is subjective, so maybe I just couldn’t get into this.

Not as good as when it first came out. Many of the jokes are starting to feel dated now and will be lost on later generations. There are a lot of hilarious moments, but there are some moments that fall flat which can be a killer to a movie purely meant to be funny. Regardless, it still has what I consider to be one of the most funny lines of all time. A line that I repeat from time to time and no one knows what the hell I am talking about.
