This is a nightmare, but it's not a dream, but reality. The worst part watching this is knowing that the guy who said 'I don't think it'll ever be over' was right. It's still not over. One has to keep that in mind when watching these things while never forgetting that we need to learn from past events and do better. One can only hope. A powerful, brutal documentary that works so well because it's only comprised of raw footage.

Some new footage I hadn't seen before, but otherwise a fairly ordinary contribution to the documentary genre.

The archival footage really is terrifying and completely emotionally overwhelming, as someone who wasn't alive yet when this happened I had no idea of the sheer scale of the riots. The nuances of racial and economic power structures in America are so numerous and complex that I don't think anything other than a mini-series could possibly do it justice, and I still would've liked more, but for a two-hour film this does a pretty solid job.

Not even with my trademark cynicism could I leave this without feeling overwhelmed, disillusioned and sad.

It's very commendable how this documentary is entirely made out of archive footage edited together without any voice-over or talking heads explaining/narrating the happenings with hindsight

I would be born 176 days after the events of April 29, 1992 in Torrance, California. I'd live to see the events of May 26, 2020. And like the events in 1965, the nature of the American zeitgeist, the centuries of pain of the African-American people, and the failings of the nation's institutional systems are all present. Nothing's changed but the date.

A well told story and horrific. Without the constant mood music and irritating tape glitch effects, I'd have rated it higher.
