There is nothing disturbing about this. Actings and characters are just terrible.

Fun movie about pedophilia (or ephebophilia, if you will). Has a very early '00s feel, influenced by Larry Clarke, Gummo, and Greg Araki, though this is made to be a rather streamlined and simply developed tale that's very unjudgemental, helped by the stellar performances from Cox and 15 year old Dano.

Very good.

Sensitively scripted, acted and directed, this gay coming-of-age story contrasts a young boy's two fathers -- biological one who ignores him and gets arrested for construction fraud; the other, a surrogate of sorts, an eccentric war vet with a taste for muscle cars and teen boys whom he picks up at rest stops but who nonetheless provides more kindness & stability than the biological one. Brian Cox as the surrogate is very good & this film made Paul Dano a hot property in Hollywood.
