An unabashed call for action, this is as far from objective documentary as you can get. But being one sided doesn't take away from the effective expression of the way Europe and the U.S. are viewed in Latin America and the reasons for those views. Their bloodied histories, which continued well after this film was made, the feelings of impotence and frustration, and the context of the world at the time are all well shown.

Not documentary, not even propaganda, but straight up recruitment for a revolution. It is rather effective, and shows a remarkable spirit of radicalism and revolution not just in its content but also its presentation. Of course, the biggest problem is its length. But when I was able to keep up with all the different players and factions, it was quite informative. Although my attention occasionally wandered, for the most part it was an unusual and remarkably gripping film, and very well-edited.

Cinema of Resistance. Lincoln Center. 25.08.13. - Great Marxist filmmaking. Incredible montage sequences throughout the film. Ending on Che's face for 2 minutes is amazing.

The passion is fierce and vibrant. Using a mixture of stock and original footage, Argentina circa the revolution is shown as war-torn and desperate for stability. There are times where I'm reminded of silent-era City Symphonies, portraits of a time and place. Other times it is strictly propaganda, intended to inspire and inflame. Regardless, you take it in as a historical document with its own manipulative intent, not as entertainment.

Propaganda film (or revolutionary recruitment video) from Argentina, I thought Part 1 was very interesting and quite well done, but Parts 2 and 3 were quite dry and repetitive. I think he lets people talk a bit too long, so we get a static shot of someone talking for a full minute or two quite often with little to break it up. I think the film could have made the points it wanted to make in a lot less than the 4 hour run-time. More interesting as an historical artifact than a film.
