Là-bas

For a movie that's based almost entirely on long static shots through the windows of a Tel-Aviv apartment and distant city noises, with only the occasional sound of Akerman's short conversations on the phone (one of them in basic Hebrew) and haphazard musings about her notes, her family history, and her feelings as a diaspora Jew in Israel, this is pretty fascinating. I wanna ask why she's making me watch this lazy nothingness, but on the other hand, why is it winning so much of my affection?
