Direction is better than the story and is able to captivate.

5 friends wins the lottery and invest in a business together. Sounds like a good idea, right? Not after you see this movie! French drama of girl trouble, immigration issues and and plain bad luck. Jean Gabin is the backbone to a somewhat wobbly story. It's not like they made they dwelled too much on those tragic moments which just sort of happened and not much was done about it. But in it's original optimistic approach is kind of like they keep dusting themselves off toward reaching their goal.
