The idea itself is worth not only a high mark but integrity in our human consciousness. But the filming was cheesy, strange and distracting.

Like a hippy dippy 1970's movie, nicely shot. Watchable but you need to be in the right frame of mind. Comedy is of the absurdist variety and pretty highbrow. Needed more work on the plot and less eco-message.

La Belle Verte is an absurd film that seems as relevant (if not more) today as it was on release 25 years ago. At its core the film focuses on the silliness of its premise to be funny, though the environment (and social) commentary isn't that subtle. The orchestra scene was probably the peak, but the same joke was repeated a little too often thereafter. There is an interesting conversation in the 3rd act that slightly undermines theme. The acting is good, as is the cast.
