La corrupción de Chris Miller

What at first feels like a prestige slasher/thriller, pretty soon reveals itself to be an unfortunately liturgical affair, half-heartedly reciting the classic beats without much actual thought. Its plot recalls those Atom Egoyan films I've never seen - a stepmom and daughter caught in a self-defeating, masochistic, daddy-issues love triangle with a mysterious drifter - but by the time they're stabbing him in the back, I'm sort of confused why I should care about the stabbing.

I'm not really sure what was going on in this Spanish giallo, though it was stylish with an overbearing soundtrack. Interesting to see Jean Seberg here. Fav scene: horse riding because why not

I rather liked this movie. It has a wonderfully nasty underlying streak that works quite well.

Gostei de tudo que já vi do Bardem, aqui não é diferente, embora seja estranho um giallo dublado em espanhol e eu ter gostado mais do final alternativo do que do final oficial, sobretudo por ter uma vibe meio Les Diaboliques e a Jean Seberg ser tudo que uma loira hitchcockiana deve ser. Box Versátil Giallo Volume 9.

This Spanish Giallo was made in '73 but feels more like the late 60's Italian ones. It has surprisingly little nudity and kills; mainly one brutal scene where the killer attacks a whole family. It has an interesting mood and the script provides enough twists to keep you guessing. The countryside setting adds flavor although it mostly takes place inside the house; it could almost work as a play. Jean Seberg was also quite good and I think this has been unjustly labeled as a lesser work for her.
