La dolorosa

Jean Grémillon's La dolorosa [The Pained One] (1934) is a relatively ordinary 1930s production which doesn't stand out when in light mode, but which gets more expressive when in sorrow using a lot of religious symbolism and camera effects to get the message across. Honestly, I wish they'd hit the sadness even harder for the end result here gets a little bland.
