Ladrões de sabonete estreava há 35 anos na Itália. Tinha esquecido completamente que esse filme existia, ironicamente o assisti pela primeira vez na TV, mas era estatal e não tinha comerciais (TV Cultura), nem lembro se já tinha assistido Ladrões de Bicicleta nessa época, mas a sátira valia mesmo assim. Curiosamente pouca gente ainda assiste filme na TV (eu inclusa pra me torturar), vai ver por isso ninguém se preocupou em restaurar essa pequena joia, só tem cópias bem precárias dele por aí.

This delightfully strange little film operates on multiple levels. It starts out as a parody of/homage to "Bicycle Thieves" with Nichetti also playing the main character. It turns into a third wall breaking satire of commerciality and the way in which we consume films. (The film frequently cuts to a typical Italian family watching the movie within the movie on TV and getting confused by the cross-pollination of movie and commercials.)
