Beautiful, but flawed sword and sorcery film about a couple doomed by the curse of an evil bishop. Pfeiffer is gorgeous, the leads are all charismatic and give great performances, but the soundtrack is garish and intrusive and almost ruins the film.

If it wasn't for the horrible electronic soundtrack, this movie would be much better. It's an enchanting adventure with charming characters, and the story is a lot of fun. I've even heard that there is a version with a new, altered soundtrack. If I ever see it, perhaps Ladyhawke will deserve greater acclaim. Pretty good!

It's just another one of those 80s fantasy movies. Nothing really excellent or terrible about it.

Fun fantasy plot, but the score is off-putting and the movie fails to feel truly "fantastical". A decent flick worth seeing at least once.

Cheesy, somewhat likable 80s fantasy flick. Non-fantasy fans can skip, but sword and sorcery nerds like me should Netflix it. It would be a lot better if the hilarious, archaic, jarring, and terrible synth music was totally replaced by a more traditional fantasy score.

Predictable, with a woefully dated score, clunky choreography and tedious comic relief (in the form of mousy Mathew Broderick). Little imagination here beyond the central premise and nothing special about what little FX work there is. No real world-building, just a lover's curse set to a medieval backdrop. The script is so mediocre that there's nothing to elevate anything else, which is mostly just functional. Brother, thy story stumbles on its pilgrimage to cool. We are in dire want of dragons.

An enjoyable love story. The best part is the music! Very dramatic. If you like movies with a medieval theme, you'll like it. If you like fantasy, you'll like it. And to top it off, Matthew Broderick steals the show with the most comical and endearing sidekick roll ever.

Crazy fun idea turned into a full blown movie. Matthew Broderick's character was mostly useless; Rutger Hauer disappears for part of the movie. Michelle Pfeiffer wasn't that good of an actress. Fav scenes: freakin' ridiculous intro and the slo-mo defeat of Molina.

All fantasy films need an 80s synth score - could you imagine LOTR scored by Phil Oakey? It would be brilliant. This movie is ok, maybe a bit longwinded and the light relief could've been lighter. It passed the time and I liked the cast.

The first third has a lot of Matthew Broderick being annoying, but once the main characters are established and the story is revealed it becomes more engaging. The on-location castles and scenery are nice to look at. The 80s music is jarring and inappropriate, it would be nice if there could be a special edition without it.

This movie is adorably awkward. There's a bunch of intense emotion thrown into the main relationship, and it never quite comes together but it's always compelling. Add in the awkward-but-enthusiastic score, the weird poetry of the special effects, Matthew Broderick playing a character archetype that doesn't fit him but managing to stretch past just playing The Matthew Broderick type... I enjoyed myself.

Alan Parsons' synthy score jars at first but it's the completely 'oomphless' (even for a kids film) fighting that ruined this for me.

Another Fantasy masterpiece. The soundtrack sounds a bit weird at first, but the atmosphere of this movie is simply stunning. Briliant love-story and an amazing fairy tale. And Rutger Hauer's almost anti-hero is one of the best medieval knights ever to appear in a Fantasy movie. A forgotten masterpiece wich deserves to be remembered.

Though my childhood was filled with the staples of 80's adventure films, Ladyhawke was somehow missed. Watching it in 2019, it's a highly entertaining romp that makes up for its flaws with its charm and wit. The production is dated and the score is obnoxious (at least in the 1st half of the film) but in a way it makes the film memorable in its earnestness. "We have come full circle, Lord. I would like to think there is some higher meaning in this. I certainly would reflect well on You."

Some people think of Bueller when they think of Broderick. I think of Philipe Gastone. As a kid growing up in the late 80s / early 90s, dying for fantasy fare, this was a staple.

Super cheesy with the tone of classic YA fantasy such as Lloyd Alexander's 'The Chronicles of Pyrdain', C.S. Lewis 'Chronicles of Narnia' or T.H. White's 'Once and Future King', complete with bumbling teenage protagonist, older mentor, and a quest to overthrow the evil overlord. For some reason the sky is always pink or orange and there's a ridiculous recurring synth melody. I'm not really sure what the word for this type of fantasy is but it's the opposite of 'gritty realism.'

I loved it as a child, but I can't understand it anymore, though I love fantasy movies, but this one is not really great. It would have been something, if foremost the score were better (What the hell did Parsons think he's doing???), as well as weapons and costumes. Otherwise, it is ok.

Gorgeous cinematography, a tight, fantastical story, and memorable characters (well acted) make up for any other deficiencies - except one. I love Alan Parsons to death, but the soundtrack sounded like the Project's cover of the NES Zelda theme song. But no matter - the film's heart is well in the right place.

Borderline cheesy fantasy film with a touching story and beautiful scenery. Pfeiffer is gorgeous, Hauer suitably buff and Broderick well...twinkish. Would rate higher if it didn't have what must be one of the most inappropriate musical scores in film history - it completely jars with the imagery.

I remember seeing this back in the early 90's. Something about it stuck to me, and I remembered the title without any of the plot. Now that this film finally got a BluRay release I took on an opportunity to watch it again. It is an ok fantasy romance flick, though it would have benefitted from faster pace and someone else in Broderick's place. How did he become a working actor in the first place? The music score is totally 80's. That's a good thing, guys!

Really the only good thing about this is Rutger Hauer. Otherwise, it's kind of mediocre and forgettable at the best of times - the production and special effects are downright amateurish. Perhaps most notable for its score, which is one of the most bizarre and out of place I've ever heard.

(From vague memory) - objectively bad, but memorable thanks to that implaceable 1980s charm. Something about the audacity of its fantasy shlock, the iconic cast, and the nice, if ridiculously mismatching, Alan Parsons synth-rock soundtrack...

A great concept hampered by a dragging plot, and what I can only imagine is some contractual obligation to fill out an entire 2 hour runtime. And boy did it drag puh-lenty. But what carried me through was one of the most compelling romance stories I'd ever seen. I can't say enough about the concept, it's brilliant. Other noteworthy aspects were the beautiful cinematography and locations, the acting and soundtrack wasn't bad either. But the action was so poorly choreographed. See it or don't.

aka "Ferris Bueller's Quest". Matthew Broderick is horribly miscast. The score is incredibly bad, with electronic synthesizer rock and electric basslines during action sequences...in a medieval movie. Speaking of action it's all bad. The adventure is very simple and at the same time confusing. The curse must be broken but how? What? When? Huh? It's a half hour too long, so many padded scenes. Something like "Willow" for example is miles better than this. The sets and costumes look good at least.

The synth score and Broderick's diction -as usual- do their best to kill the movie dead every minute. And too bad the best thing about the movie is the sound work.

Like a dourer Princess Bride, with the soundtrack from hell. But works, largely thanks to the weird imbalance between Broderick thinking he's in a comedy and Hauer playing it absolutely straight.

There's a strong idea for a fantasy film but it's undercooked. I imagine it needs to be seen at an earlier age and generate nostalgia to be ranked better. Everyone (especially Hauer) tries hard but can't raise it further.

He turns into a wolf at dusk. She turns into a hawk at dawn. Only at the moment of sundown or sunrise can the see each other. Together with a mouse (Matthew Broderick) they plot to remove the curse that has kept the lovers apart. A facinating concept, well acted, and beautifully filmed. Unfortunately the score is awful.
