More proof that critics can't be trusted. There is definitely heart and plenty of laughs in this zany, often surreal, self-aware tribute to the original series, no doubt in thanks to the involvement of the Brothers Krofft. Tone-perfect voice acting by John Boylan and Leonard Nimoy fit wonderfully into the fun. And, of course, Danny McBride reprising his Pineapple Express character is extremely amusing.

Would you believe it if I told you this movie actually wasn't so bad. I expected to be extremely let down by this movie but actually found it to be quite entertaining. The story isn't all that wonderful but it made me laugh pretty consistently. If you don't go in expecting anything brilliant and if you don't mind the humor normally associated with Will Ferrell and Danny McBride (neither stretch their acting limits) you should enjoy it.

Danny McBride and Will Ferrel manage to be surprisingly endearing characters and the set design was quite surprisingly good. There's actually a lot to this movie that manages to work despite all that works against it. I mean this is a movie where Will Ferrel drinks piss and gets pooped out of a dinosaur. There's not much reason to expect the rest to be so decent.

I can only imagine that the target audience for this would be brainless 14 yr olds who've yet to see a movie that doesn't suck. I was baked as hell when I watched this and I still didn't even laugh. The only thing that saved this flick is the fact that there are far worse movies you can compare it to.

This movie is so fucked-up on almost every level that actually works perfectly as what it is meant to be. Cartoonish (but nicely done) set design; characters possessed by ultimate stupidity (but somehow likable exactly because of that); the most ridiculous T-Rex in history of cinema; and, of course, one big "fuck you" to MPAA. There isn't a single scene, filled with more retardness than the snake or monkeys scenes from Indy 4, so I don't understand why people are bitching so much about this.

Will Ferrell is the only thing that was funny about this movie. Has some decent action and some cool dinosaur special effects, but that was all that this had to offer as the story was very weak and disappointing considering the source material.

Whether or not the movie's occasionally jump-inducing (but still mostly comedic) violence is a bigger issue than its frequent sexual allusions, Silberling's plan for his own family is telling: "My daughter's 8 and certainly [is] not going to come and see the movie." (pluggedin.com)

Actually pretty funny. I can't help but wonder if a bigger effects budget would have improved the overall quality of the movie. Not having seen the show, this is one of the worst movie-going experiences I've had this year. Humor is not the film's strong suit, and "Land of the Lost" thinks it is hilarious when really it's just flat, obscure, stupid, and overly zany for my taste. The special effects are terrible, and it is painful to watch each scene play out in desperation. Ferrell's usual shtick can't even save some of this wreck; he's just as awful, continuing his losing streak after 'Semi-Pro' and 'Step Brothers.'

Will Ferrel works the best as a supporting cast, ie; jay & silent bob, too much of the dude just gets annoying, That and the very often times not so funny McBride, a weak , corny script, some decent set pieces/cgi make for an overall bad movie. With bad music, And bad directing. Even the pacing is off.... Only if there is NOTHING else on, and I mean absolutely nothing else...

My expectations were decidedly low after the movie was savaged during its theatrical release, but my Pushing Daisies-inspired love of Anna Friel pushed me to watch it anyway. This is not a bad movie at all, though it came out during the peak of Ferrell's over-exposure. Everything with Taccone's Chala falls pretty flat, but the three leads are charming, the production design is wonderful, and the throwback aesthetic of the villains is great. Everything with the T-Rex works perfectly. Fun times.

Will Ferrell almost singlehandedly saves the movie. Keyword being almost. There are a few funny bits sprinkled throughout, and it does have its charms, but none of it really comes together. Having no reference of the original show the parody was mostly lost on me. It also serves as another reminder that I really don't care for Danny McBride, and wonder why people find him so funny. It certainly tries in places and definitely had potential, but it's mostly just your typical soulless cgi fare.

Poop, pee, Danny McBride, and the one interesting plotline from the original show. It's not as bad as people would have you believe. It's not good, sure, but it isn't the unending shit show people claim it is. Two of four protagonists felt a little underdeveloped, and shit keeps happening off-screen. I know old TV shows would run out of money, so they'd have to tell rather than show you how things happened, and maybe it was a riff, but I was never 100% sure how deep the parody went.

Destroyed by critics (and many viewers) upon release, the film turned out to be a major bomb financially speaking. However, there are some really bizarre, unexpected laughs to be found in what is unexpectedly a rather vulgar and depraved comedy. The film somewhat reminded me of "Freddy Got Fingered", a film decidedly not for everyone, but has some really unique setpieces that are to be admired. It helps that McBride once again steals the show.

I think it was when Rick, Will, and their ancient primate friend Chaka are chilling in a motel pool in the middle of a dinosaur-populated desert getting high off a weird jungle fruit that I realized this movie was actually kind of good, with its zany mix of campy 50s-esque sci-fi (see the actors in alien suits) and raunchy comedy (Ferrell's pee-drinking scene had me in stitches), not to mention a few instances of surprisingly appealing visuals (the "cosmic lost and found" scenes especially).
