Land of the Pharaohs

Gloriously campy and entertaining epic is difficult to defend in anything other than derisive terms, but Hawks' accomplished direction, and a pair of fine performances from Hawkins and Collins, both clearly in on the joke, make this a lot of fun. Breathy plot developments in the second half revolving around Collins feel like an unconscious 30 year tip of the hat to DYNASTY!

This actually isn't a bad film. Corny, but Joan Collins is very beautiful and very bad, and she does get walled up in a pyramid at the end in the absolutely coolest sequence involving huge stone blocks and sand that you are ever going to see.

This was a good biblical two-fer with Duel in the Sun which I also watched that day. Shame this was nowhere near as good.
