'It is difficult for a a fish to see its own aquarium'. This line sums up the central concern of this short; how people, and by turns societies, both present and historical, find it difficult to escape their insularity, and are thus doomed to continuously reproduce the same problems albeit in different forms; a mere reshuffling of the proverbial chairs while the deck remains relatively constant. The opening long shot of a fish tank is almost hypnotic, and use of La Marseillaise is slyly ironic.
