I watched this on a plane and I really should've just stuck with my book. Are they not writing roles for older academy award winning actors anymore? I mean, what the hell are Hoffman and Thompson doing in this piece of shit? They have no absolutely no chemistry together and all of the exchanges are so forced and awkward. Fuckin airplane movies.

If I could give you two words to sum this movie up they are the following "Uncomfortably Awkward." If you can make it through the first 30-40 minutes of this without putting your head in a pillowcase then congrats. At some point I found myself saying, "Well it can't get any worse then this, looks like we finally hit rock... oh gosh no your kidding me again?!!" Luckily Emma comes along just in time to save the day and try to revive Harv's life. Don't worry I won't spoil the ending for u.

Emma Thompson and especially Dustin Hoffman deliver such tender performances in a real charmer of a movie that only falters in being so light on its feet that you'd barely know it's there. A lot of the plot has formula stamped on it in big bold letters, but there's enough great moments to balance out the fluff, making it a satisfactory little movie.

Stellar acting! I've always adored Thompson and this is no exception. She (and Hoffman) is so natural and expressive. The story is sweet, and has a delicate and wonderful mix of humor and sadness. The directing managed to piece together two stories into one without it feeling tedious. The story is nice, but without Hoffman and Thompson probably wouldn't have been nearly so enjoyable as bad acting could easily have sunk it. However, it *did* have good acting, and was therefore quite enjoyable.

It's dreary and boring, and it had so much going for it (I love Hoffman and Thompson). It drags way too much, and I never believed Kate and Harvey as a couple.

It's certainly always a treat to watch these two ply their trade, but, I found it all a bit forgettable, sorry to say...

Effectively a two hander for Hoffman and Thompson who excel in this simple but satisfying film; the leads making an unlikely, but ultimately convincing pair. Proof that sometimes movies need only to observe its characters without needing a "bigger picture" in mind. Subplot involving Hoffman's strained relationships with his ex-wife and daughter is touchingly and movingly handled, and Atkins is amusing as Thompson's mother in an albeit unnecessary subplot. First rate for fans of the stars.

A nice twist on the traditional romantic comedy. Granted, it leans more towards drama than comedy, but it's very charming. Dustin Hoffman is fantastic.

A competent romantic film. Has its fair share of cliches but the terrific acting and poignant plot helps the movie rise above its flaws

Who wrote this? It starts well, but halfway through it the story feels like an uninspired afterthought. The leading actors are the only thing going for this movie.

Anyone who knows the geography of central London will find this film unintentionally amusing. Anyone who doesn't know the geography of central London will find a passable romance, with perhaps a little too happy an ending.

A very standard rom-com; inoffensive, light, I will not remember this film one year from now.

Must be one of the most lonely starts of a film I have ever seen. The movie greatly depicts this desolate feeling the main characters are experiencing and bring them together in a somewhat mellow but still believable story. I enjoyed this one, however they flirted with the edge of the clichéd at certain moments (the missed date e.g.)

Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson are surprisingly good together, but this is a pretty forgettable movie.

Featherweight romantic drama with a bit of touristy London. Thompson and Hoffman were good but the plot boilerplate.

It's enjoyable for what it is. It reminds me of The Bucket List (although that one was a bit better, and far funnier) in that it's a relatively okay premise elevated by two great stars. The ending is tacked on, it would've been better if they came to their inevitable conclusion in the one night. But it's nice to see Dusty in a leading role again. I miss him.

Captures a genuine sense of awkwardness throughout unlike any film I've seen. If only it were intentional, this could be called a work of genius.

Less old-fashioned, of course, are the script's s-words, the interjection of Jesus' name and a bit of suggestive banter. And I've already mentioned the liquor--which is old-fashioned, but not in a positive way. (pluggedin.com)

ehh.. lacks build up, Hoffman's romantic spirits are hardly 'lifted' by a new woman in his life.. It's more like he becomes a better man like magic, blame it on the script.. Instead of focusing on Hoffman and his daughter/work or Thompson and her mother/lost child/previous lover it's all a bit mangled and jumbled up.. a very poorly written script, but wonderful actors and acting.

Kind of exhausting. Yes, Hoffman and Thompson are great, but my god the story is kind of a bore. The dialogue just goes around in circles, over and over and over..... There's really also nothing you can't get from just watching the trailer.

Last Chance Harvey is a pleasant movie but not earth-shattering in any way. It's a bitter sweet tale of sadness, loneliness and hope. Even though the feature is geared towards an older audience and is about older people trying to find themselves as well as happiness in life, the thematic elements within the movie are universal and could apply to other age groups. The two lead veteran actors raise the film up a notch from what otherwise would have been s rote and straight forward story. This is p

Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson play the two participants in the romantic dance in this movie, and whatever pleasure that might be derived from seeing a cinematic love story played out between actors in an age bracket that often gets ignored when such happy baubles are assembled is undercut by the painfully bland execution. The movie has no zing, no zest. It's a completely inert piece of filmmaking.
