The crappy soundtrack full of George Michael shit songs made this impossible to watch.

This was a bit puzzling. On one hand it's not half bad as far as Christmas films go. The twist ending was expected, but leaves open some questions about e.g. lead character's sanity that I'm not sure the filmmakers even considered. Feig is a solid director, but again his taste in material is questionable. This is also a prime example of a movie that tries a bit too hard to please all demographics and ends up with lukewarm results. WHAM/George Michael connection also feels quite unnecessary.

Not too bad. It’s nothing special, but I’d put it above average for the leads and fairly convincing story. Thompson’s writing comes out at times with a few chuckle worthy gags. Clarke is actually really solid in this and seems very comfortable in the role, and Golding is just right behind her. I’m still not sure how I feel about the twist (which I did NOT see coming by the way). I also grew a little tired of the George Michael songs, as wonderful as he was. Not great, but not bad at all.

This is kind of what we want from our Christmas fare. The seasonal drudgery, the music, the cold, the stress oozing out of characters' pores, and a little touch of whimsy when we finally let our guard down. Emilia Clarke is really good in this. I get that she's doing her best Emma Thompson, but she does an excellent Emma Tompson. And I guess it makes sense if she's Emma Tompson's daughter. Emma Tompson is not playing Emma Tompson, though. Anyway, this is cute and kinda timely.

The idea must have been rejected by Hallmark before it became a big-budget movie. Despite the pedigree, this doesn't work - everything that's done well can't overcome the pointless premise or the fact that the major part of the twist is obvious to the audience well before it's obvious to the main character.

Okay, it heavily feels like someone decided to make this after they got a bit lame idea of "hey, wouldn't it be cool to make a movie based on a very well-known carol". But I really enjoyed its typical but still charming moments. I don't know why, don't ask me.

I knew it wasn't a rom-com which made this a lot more enjoyable. Before the twist I was wondering the whole time what the plot had to do with the song. Then it was a bit cheesy but turned more heartfelt. Good acting all around---Emilia Clarke either got casted well for GoT or she grew a lot in acting since then. Liked that she wasn't a perfect character. Emma Thompson was distracting. Liked the relationship w/Michelle Yeoh. Fav scene: "It was always going to be yours, one way or another." Melt.

I like Emilia Clarke as much as the next guy, and there's something about this film that makes me feel like I wouldn't mind watching it every year at Christmas time, but there's also a part of the movie that feels predictable and typical, and not really what you look for in movies like this. It's not a bad movie, but I feel like it could've been better.

The twist is obvious of the bat (though this may be a sign I watch too many RomComs). The social commentary, while well-meaning, felt slightly out of place in both its brief, shallow inclusion and its timing in both the film and amongst the political climate. This movie isn't really about plot though, but about characters and their chemistry. Golding is charming, as is Clarke who seems to best suited for these roles. Yeoh is a scene-stealer, while Thompson is a bit too one-note SNL-sketch.

Amiable rom-com largely sold by its likable cast, headed by an engaging Clarke, but its story and screenplay is a surprising let-down; only mildly chuckle-worthy and loaded with too much heavy-handed social commentary - its diversity in casting and characters is to be applauded, but its superficial musings on Brexit, same-sex couplings etc. belong in a more serious minded film. The big story twist doesn't really make sense because the nature of Golding's character is never properly defined.

Emilia Clarke'dan tatlı bir romantik komedi. Hayatı takmayan kızımız, yılbaşı dükkanında çalışmaktadır. Çok hoş bir çocuk ile tanışınca dünyası değişecektir. Olumlu olumsuz her türlü olayı açıklayan, oyuncuların iyi oynadığı 1 film. Modern bir sinderella. Filmin sonunda, masalın sonu kötü bitiyor. Prens sadece ruhumuzda ve kalbimizde. Suffers from the usual problems that plague rom-coms (esp the always implausible cutesy & cloying affectations, like characters bemoaning how miserable they are even though they're really good-looking & surrounded by gorgeous environments), but writer Thompson does invest her lead with a great deal of backstory so at least she's fleshed out. She also adds a wallop of a twist which is great story-wise but suggests odd things about our lead. Clarke fans will also get their money's worth
