Last Shift

Could've been good if it showed a little more creativity, but is so derivative and by-the-numbers it failed at even creeping me out. By the end I was just exasperated.

There's a good concept buried somewhere marred with D grade directing and scriptwriting. This is loaded up with as many eerie haunted house effects and jump scares as possible. A few moments were nicely done but the effectiveness is totally lost in the sterile one dimensional setting. There was also a lack of suspense and you know it's amateur director's night when various characters have to pop up out of nowhere to provide exposition for the film.

On the one hand, a low-profile horror without high-tech gadgets. On the other hand it's a creepy, ominous film just by using clever techniques. My opinion here : http://opinion-as-a-moviefreak.blogspot.be/2015/10/last-shift-2014.html

It's just very mediocre. The scares are not there and the main character remains at an arms length. The only thing you learn about her is that it's her first day on the job and that she lost her dad, but other than that, not sure why we should care about her in this movie? The horror tropes are thrown around a bit too generously so in the end any scares are reduced to being overused and plain boring. It will pass your time, but I'm not sure if it will entertain you.

It's not a bad horror movie as there are some legitimately startling things in here, however, it suffers from being too derivative of other movies in its genre. It feels a bit generic when run up against some of the better horror movies of the last decades, and while it has a nice sense of dread, the second half is a little too lenient on the jump scares.

Last Shift is a horror mystery with some genuinely creepy moments and a pretty good ending. Worth watching.

A fairly bare bones horror movie that was clearly written with budgetary constraints in mind. I've seen my share of low budget horror flicks and this one isn't anything special, but it has a moment or two where it pulls off a nice trick in the scare department.

Very surprisingly good. Director uses cliché bits, but gives them all amazingly fresh twists!

Story is a bit weak and predictable. There is however some very creepy imagery, and one of the most unexpected jump scares I’ve ever seen. It’s not an original masterpiece, but it gets the job done quite well.

While Last Shift doesn't do anything new in its genre, it's smart enough to utilize the camera work, sound and the amazing acting Juliana Harkavy to submerge you into total despair. The script and story-telling is clearly the weak point in the film, but as the movie goes on, if you are capable of turning your brain off and enjoy the sweet ride of the horrifying soul of this movie you will leave satisfied with its conclusion while yearning for more horror movies like this.

The only thing this has in common with Precinct 13 is that it's set in a police station. Otherwise it's just a "haunting" flick with only one central character. Last Shift starts out pretty lame, but - fuck me - I actually thought the last forty minutes were decent.

Sincerely horrifying. I just wish it had a stronger conclusion.

Nice idea, shame about the execution

Fear is subjective, but my emotional response to Last Shift is one of the reasons I rate it favorably. I watched it in halves (which can often ruin a horror movie) and both times the imagery left me so scared I almost stopped watching. The film techniques are horrible and the acting is not very note worthy, but even looking at the cover while I write this makes me unsettled.
