Love this song a ton. The animation at the beginning is probably the most beautiful I've ever seen.

Pretty cute, but it would have been way darker and more intense (and oddly more realistic for a short about talking volcanoes) if he stayed stuck under water at the end.

I look forward to Pixar's next short which will have to pieces of dandruff fall in love.

I wish there wasn't any dialogue or music, because the animation could have easily spoken for itself.

The animation is spectacular, but that is to be expected. I really didn't connect with this otherwise. The situation is utterly contrived and feels meaningless. IMO the audience has very little reason to care, and when everything starts to fail there is little to no humor to fall back on.

Did a great job of starting the waterworks before "Inside Out" played.

Great song. Beautiful animation. I would have preferred if the volcanos didn't have faces. Fav scene: nice use of a pause to make you think things weren't going to work out.

Borderline awful. I hate it when parents show shit like this to their kids.

The particle effects are all amazingly done, but that's about the only interesting thing here.

Another great Pixar short that bypasses my pure hatred for ukelele-lead tropical music because it's pretty great to see a volcano sing about his dreams and his desires and wanting to fuck other volcanoes. This has really great animation, detailed and sometimes life-like, but still wonderfully cartoonish, this is a cute, innocent little entrée for the main event and it gets you in the right mood.

Nothing much going on in terms of storytelling. Still "Lava" ranks as an enjoyably cute little film due to the nice animation work, the humour and the sentimental directness.

Charming and sentimental with a consistent bittersweet tone and A-grade animation. The dubbing I saw it with really hurt musically.

Carried more by the musical expression than any deep lesson, Lava absolutely makes me cry. It is therefore cathartic and valuable.

Dug the animation, didn't so much dig the story as a whole. I can't help but compare it to "Feast", my runaway favorite short of last year. And "Feast" is far, far better. But still, in general, more movies need to have short films play before they start. Keep this trend going.

I suppose it's nice to know that even Pixar drops the ball every once in a while. Mind you, even their misses are still way better than many other studios' hits.

Sentient objects pining for love and companionship is nothing new, but 'Lava' is breathtakingly beautiful in its natural animation, and the narration/song is cute as well.
