If you thought the first film's biggest problem was not being kid-friendly enough, this is for you. The filmmakers decide to drop the horror elements of the first film so they can try to make a Spielberg sci-fi thriller (on a much smaller budget!) w/ the composer impressively mimicking a John Williams vibe while avoiding a lawsuit. The director's other choices also feel extremely derivative of other popular films including Bladerunner w/ Bergin having seemingly been hired to look like Mel Gibson

This film features my two favourite things: cyberpunk and someone doing a Jim Carrey impression. Attempts at putting cyberpunk usually never work, mostly because the films are dealing with a surface-level version of cyberpunk, and the effects feel dated quickly. Re-reading this, it makes me sound like I am an expert on cyberpunk. I read Neuromancer once.

I like Matt Frewer. Not in this just in general. He seems nice.

Bergin here provides further proof of a total lack of range with a performance so bad, it's amusing. O'Brien and Pouget have scant opportunity to shine, while Frewer simply does Max-out-of-his-Headroom. Silly, tedious and laughable. Best to avoid.
