An imp cavorts in the empty bedroom of an inn. It hides in the bureau as the innkeeper and his family escort an important guest into the room. As the guest places his coat in the bureau, the imp pops out and begins to chase the man around the room. Bedlam ensues, with the room soon in disarray. By the time the innkeeper comes to investigate, the imp is again hidden, and the blame falls on the guest. Soon, the imp has the room to itself again. (imdb)

Really fun to watch and may even beat the floating head films in sheer whimsy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbJ01n5uoxc

Or, _The Monster Who Keeps You From Getting a Good Night's Sleep_. A 1905 special effects movie. Cute and interesting

A Good trick film must survive even after the audience knows how the trick is done. This passes with flying colors. Even though I know basic trick editing, this short is amazingly witty and full of life. They don't make 'em like they used to.

The chair stuff's the best part, but this is all around a great short.

4 minutes of joy. While yes, this kind of thing is more easily achievable today, the trick editing still holds up. But more importantly, this shit is funny and full of life. As others have said, the chair gag is great.

Georges Méliès was repeating himself a lot in this one and I felt it was a bit too long. However there was still enough interesting things going on to keep it interesting.

More brilliance from Méliès. I think this may be his funniest although we can't see his face that well which I thought was a big part of the charm in his 1898 film 'Four Heads are Better than One'. The story is very tight & very funny, a simple but delightful little premise.

It's fine but not even close to Melies best and he did way more impressive, funny, interesting shorts before this as well. I guess when you pump out like 100 movies in 5 years a few will be duds.
