While it starts to drag in points, the film manages to do a really good job of being a journey of self-discovery and understanding without hitting you over the head with the metaphors with a metaphorical hammer.

I began watching this the other day not realizing I'd already seen it. I was in pursuit of another performance by Nicolas Cazalé. He's quite good in this low-key road movie, embodying the impatience of youth effortlessly. In it, he plays an unbelieving son driving his father from southern France to Mecca for his hadj, but, as suggested, there aren't many memorable images or exchanges until the final few minutes.
