The plot is a little complicated, but very clear and worth following attentively. The payoff blew me away. I am tempted to recite the cliche that they don't make them like this anymore. This is a movie about the fearsomely destructive power of the private little lies of high society, people who value only their social standing above their monetary fortune, and about the inherent disadvantage of the lower class. It makes its case ingeniously, with an irresistible moral force. May Britt excels.
