A strong, if sometimes too exuberant (I thought I might be watching WWE with all those oiled bodies), based-on-a-true-story biopic of one of the early blues legends. The story bounces around a bit, which suggests those who really understand the blues have truly lived the blues. Oddly, we never see if Lead Belly (he always spaced the name) made up most of his songs or if he learned them from others.
