it's sad when Leatherface's top priority is fucking up vehicles

After the madness of 2 we are now treated to the blandest members of the Sawyer family. It's gooey sure, but thr characters are so painfully uninteresting you're wishing for even a Franklin to show up. They're just gross Texans who cares.

Unebelievably bad. The action horror set-pieces seemed like they were interrupted due to budget cuts before they were actually finished. Also, it plays like a clean remake of the original, obviously with way less talent. I kinda like the family and Foree's presence and the survivalist character, but the whole thing feels so clumsy and badly put together -- it starts out as a trip gone sour, flirts with a hunt in the jungle and ends up with torture that never takes place in the cannibal house.

With both the previous installments being notable for either forward thinking horror, or a rip-roaring good time of the second, neither of them were quite like anything that had been done before. This installment is the first to hit all the mundane notes that had made slashers boring by the late 80's, and it came out at the dryest of the dry spells for the genre. It's a horrible, forgettable movie, and one of the worst of the franchise, hell, one of the worst of multiple franchises.

Okay guys, let's pretend the second one never happened and Leatherface made a brace after he cut himself in the first. Then Aragorn comes around hootin' and hollerin' and Ken Foree rocks a machine gun. There are a couple of good scenes here, but it is not a good movie.

Ridiculous over the top goofiness makes this more entertaining than all but possibly the original. That being said it's still terrible and embarrassing at time.

Not so much another sequel, this is more of a remake of the first movie. Vivid characters and sharp dialogue contributed by Schow make this an improvement on part 2, but multiple MPAA cuts leave much of the storyline incoherent. Foree steals it as a likable survivalist whose ultimate survival makes little sense; Saw 2 heroine Caroline Williams has a brief cameo.

It's just boring. Seems like it takes forever for anything to happen and when it does you don't care. The non cannibals are so annoying that you don't care if any of them die. None of the family is scary at all. Somehow this is worse than Chainsaw 2 which on some level is crazy impressive.

A relatively weak entry in the series, but still better than pretty much any non-Tobe-Hooper slasher.

Viggo is a crazy cannibal. That's enough to sell me.

The five seconds of Foree firing into the house were stretched to an entire act in the much superior Devil's Rejects.

This movie is horrible, but two good things came from it. 1. Ken Foree's performance 2. The amazing trailer where the chain saw is literally Excalibur.

Mediocre sequel/remake of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The movie is filled with bad acting, dialogue, musical choices, one liners and completely unlikable one dimensional characters. As a stupid B grade horror film it's decently entertaining.

Starts strong ('Texas' looks beautiful in the opening shots) and Viggo is one sexy redneck psycho but overall just too generic and forgettable. Leatherface is turned into a typical Michael Myers slasher boogeyman and the 'family' just seem like a rehash of every other backwoods horror movie you've ever seen. Yawn.

After this Mortensen became a central figure in the decline of Cronenberg, helping to finish off two of the forces of quality horror in English-speaking cinema. The best analysis of this film uses a 'food studies approach': Mark Bernard 's 2011 article 'Cannibalism, Class and Power: A Foodways Analysis of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Series', in 'Food, Culture & Society: An International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research' 14 (3).

Well, it wasn't as obnoxiously bad as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986), but it was still bad. Just boringly bad. It's actually more like a remake than a sequel. It doesn't really fit in with what The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) established, and just tells a different version of that original story. But yeah, bad acting, bad screenplay, bad dialogue, bad music... I can't really think of anything particularly positive to say.

BlurayRip RARBG

Don't listen to the haters. It's a worthy successor, and very entertaining. Not as wacky as the second, not as gruesome as the first.

The version of this movie I checked out seemed heavily censored which is a shame because I felt like a bit of added gore into the mix would have given this one a little extra oomph. Viggo Mortensen is fun to watch and the tone is much less frenetic than the previous movie making it a bit more digestible. It's just mostly unremarkable, which you couldn't really fathom to say about the previous 2 movies.

Sleek and autopilot but you could do much worse getting some slasher junk food in. I just wish it was an iota scary.

Not scary at all. Weird to basically just remake the first film but strip it of most of what made it great. Viggo is a standout.

The third in the Chainsaw franchise is by far the most dull. It is certainly interesting to have a nutty Viggo Mortensen performance to watch, but nothing much else will hold attention for long.

It's a pretty standard horror movie. You already know nothing is going to compare to the first one and attempts at doing that will just end up in disappointment. After the second movie which was a full satire more than a horror movie, the third one takes a safer route of a very run-of-the-mill horror movie. The gore is surprisingly tame for the series, but the soundtrack is pretty interesting. It's a little bit too safe, not really scary, but it does pass the time just fine.

Silly but enjoyable enough slasher is less a sequel than a glossy remake of Hooper’s original, incorporating more overt friction between the urban and rural population, though any semblance of social satire disappears once the slicing and dicing starts. If you have a weakness for these sort of gory but essentially toothless efforts, you could do a lot worse – performances are acceptable, with Mortenson adding a bit of star-power in support.

Better than I expected. I wish they'd tried to tie this new family to the one that preceded them (are they related? Did Leatherface go over to live with them? If so, why do they call him 'Junior' like he's a son and brother? Who the hell knows and why am I asking these questions? Nobody cares). Despite all that: the victims were NOT dopey teens AND they fought back. The couple also had a past history. Unfortunately it's only hinted at & then discarded once the I'm Trapped W/ Crazies starts.
