So horrendous it actually caused some physical discomfort in my left behind, and a little in my right behind, as well.

Dear World, on behalf of Christians everywhere, I am sorry. I am sorry we proselytize through fear and an anti-social lack of empathy. I am sorry we caricature minorities & faiths in embarrassing ways. I am sorry we throw our biggest budgets behind the iffiest of theologies, like pre-tribulation rapture and an age of accountability, while ignoring our most profound concepts. But above all, I am sorry we can honestly say Nicolas Cage is the classiest thing here and still keep the 9th commandment.

Is remaking a shitty movie and replacing Kirk Cameron as the big star with Nic Cage really that good of an idea? It's like remaking Deuce Bigelow, and replacing Rob Schneider with Nic Cage. Actually...

Everybody who goes into this thing is doing so with the hopes that it'll be a New Bad Movie Classic, right? Nobody's expecting actual quality out of this? I hope not, because this is among the most misguided, ham-fistedly made films of the year, and the worst thing about it is that--after the hammy/hokey opening 15 minutes or so--it's not even laughably bad. It's just stupendously boring and incompetent and sort of lulls you to sleep. Trust me, guys: it ain't worth it.

Probably the worst Hollywood disaster movie I've seen. Employs nearly every cliche of the genre while pushing a preachy story and terrible humour that makes jokes out of muslims and dwarfs. Writing, directing, acting and visual effects are horrible across the board. Not even worth watching as a "so bad it's good" kind of thing.

After millions of people/Christians are raptured up to heaven because they Truly Believe(d), those remaining start randomly killing and looting. Within seconds. The Fundamentalists disappear and there is no visible delay before everyone goes bananas; they were all that was holding us back, I guess. I mean, those people go away and people want to throw a really big party, I get that, especially in places where their toxic gospel has or is aiming for real power. But, you know, still.

Well... It had me saying "oh dear God" quite a few times throughout, but probably not in the way the makers intended.

I think that the message of this movie is that the rapture is going to be great because all the annoying people who you can't have a conversation with will disappear.

30% of the global population claim to be Christian. Not all Christians were raptured so let's say that half of them go, so that's 15% or around 1.08 billion people. With the reduced pressure on public services, global energy and food consumption and the drop in production of goods - the Earth is saved!

Honestly, I see what they were going for. They realised that 90% of the book is an unfilmable, sociopathic mess, and cut it down to try and make a more low-key drama about what happens in those first hours, without wanting to take sides in what happens next. That said, that just leaves us with a boring, slow-moving, VERY cheap-looking made-for-TV drama, and it's obvious that Nic Cage did all his lines from cuecards and was out of there in two hours, tops.

There were many times in this movie where I was hoping I would be raptured... or at least sent to eternal punishment. Either is better than this.

It's Airport, but instead of bad food causing problems it's the rapture. The title says it all, this movie needs to be "Left Behind".

I don't know if it was a need to adjust my average down a bit, or to just troll myself, but I went to see this to see if there might possibly be any socially redeemable value to it. I mean it's possible they might be holding a mirror up to absurdity (intentionally or unintentionally), and they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams in the latter sense of that effort. OK, so I didn't give it a 0 or a 1 because it didn't have Paris Hilton in it, but I was still tempted. Even, beyond the proselytizi

This movie is trying to be a real disaster drama. But despite problems with the editing, cinematography, score, and writing, the thing that really sinks it is the cosmology of the book - there's no room for empathizing with actual humans in the world of Left Behind, and the movie's few attempts at making the arguments that are the point of the book just show how horrifying and logically incoherent the God of the book is.

If you appreciated the preachy, shitty plot of the original but thought it could use more of everything that's wrong with big budget Hollywood movies (including plot holes, explosions, and Nic Cage's acting level when he doesn't care about a role), then this is the film for you!

Original movie was much better. They pretty much take the characters and the first 10 pages from the book and make a movie out of it and add in every cliche they can think of.

This is one of the worst-rated movies I've seen, and I basically have to disagree. I thought it was intense and reminded me of a 70s disaster movie (which I love). The script and acting weren't top quality but still entertaining.

This is a strong contender to usurp Battlefield Earth for worst movie of all time. It's like a group of producers sat around and said "How can we make this like Battlefield Earth, but worse? Much worse..." It really has it all: Faith based, agenda drive, Nicolas Cage, Hollywood blockbuster disaster film. I mean WTF. It's like someone took every horrible cliche and melded them into a Franken-movie. The be-all-end-all of bad movies...

The worst failure of Left Behind is not its direction, dialogue, acting, cinematography, or special effects. The worst failure of this movie is that there is literally no story here. Hyper-religious messages aside, the movie doesn't grok the concept of plot AT ALL, so we're just watching things not really happen or develop for nearly two hours. This movie really had the potential to be average if the story had half a brain.

This is by far the worst disaster movie or, for that matter, movie I've ever seen. From the weird, pasted in 'jumpscares' to the ridiculously flawed acting and worst out-of-place SFX ever seen in a small/medium/big budget movie. Just awful. And where there is awful, there is Nicholas Cage...

Honestly not the worst movie I've seen. It's preachy and lacks a story, but it has a few (intentional) funny jokes that show a small glimmer of hope. It builds an interesting world better than some better and more popular movies do. But overall it's flawed and poorly acted (No classic Nic Cage performance here...) too much to ever be considered anything besides "Not terrible". Also I was told all dogs go to heaven, and I saw a dog after the rapture scene. So obvious plothole

Absolutely pointless and forgettable. It's got good riffing material but only if your group is on its A-game and are willing to go out of their way to have a good time. Nicholas Cage is unfortunately pretty low key in this film and seems to be mailing it in, and why shouldn't he? This movie is lousy

Left Behind is a film beyond redemption. Cage is supposed to be cheating on his wife but it comes to light that he's just flirting with the hot flight attendant. This is an actor that specializes in being bad, yet he's barely even looked at his 'mistress'! They stop him going into crazy mode in a film that really needs crazy mode.

Left Behind. You could watch this or spend 110 minutes looking at my flabby hairy left buttcheek. The latter would be the more spiritually fulfilling experience. And if you have 3D glasses, you can view my Right Behind too - for the full having-a-butt-shoved-in-your-face experience that this film tries to replicate.

My wife is a huge fan of Nicolas Cage so I have seen a lot of his films. So far this movie is the worst movie I have ever seen with Cage in it. It is a suspense thriller without much suspense or thrills. The actors seem like they are on auto pilot or that they are hoping for better material. The script is extremely weak and it fails to create any interesting characters. So I would say skip this film at all costs.

Though towards the end it gets a little more intriguing, Left Behind has an extremely poor set up, awful soundtrack and style choice for a film that tried to be an emotional thriller but turned out to be a cheesy, character lacking drama about people disappearing and plane troubles. The acting wasn't horrible, but this movie just lacked any depth to what the whole premise of the movie was about, and left behind its story and character development with it.

The end of the world films that are preachy are at times kind of entertaining, this one was just marred with flaws right from the start. It never felt believable, it was clear all the bad people were being presented first and nothing really came of them being left behind other then them half heartedly realizing that they are all terrible people. None of the cast felt comfortable spewing lines about love, redemption and how terrible their lives are. Skip this one.

It isn't easy to walk the line between scaring the living shit out of godless heathens (thus saving their souls) and being utterly inoffensive to the only people who might pay to see this: the choir. Here I was hoping for the first A Hollywood Christploitation pic, and they somehow manage to deliver something worse than the one with Kirk Cameron in it. How did they land Cage for this? Has he gone full-on Gary Busey? It's time atheists made one of these things, because this is sheer Wonderbread.
