A sweet musical portrayal of composer Franz Schubert done in fine style. Doesn't get too much in your face with the music added naturally into the romance story. Hans Jaray as Schubert is a gentle one and Mártha Eggerth is a delight entering his life. Apparently Akira Kurosawa was fond of this movie, being among his favorite Top-100. Maybe he had an admiration for director Willi Forst who did have an undeniable elegance to his work.
