L'enfant de Paris

damn that was a good mystery movie. easily my favourite film of the 1910s so far, with léonce perret the best director. who needs griffith really?

The story is good and there is some depth in the characters, as well. The second half of the film seemed a bit slow and partly unengaging.

A great melodrama throughout but it's the final half hour that elevates this film to something special. Particularly the outdoor shots in Nice are striking. Through large parts one of two actors has to carry the movie which works really well.
