You go in thinking this might be like Delicatessen -- with zany humor, like the main character believing he has been conceived by a juiced-up tomato -- but before too long, it turns rather dark (more like Ratcatcher). It's a peculiar coming-of-age film with a very dysfunctional family. While I enjoyed parts of it (especially the soundtrack), it started to feel stale as it reached its inevitable conclusion.

Poetic grostequerie. Somew hat endearing, actually, with an aftertaste of sorrow. Jeunet+gravity.

Top badass moment? Me fantasising that whatever texture, shape, colour and design of Brexit we finally end up with, it will keep out pretentious, foreign twaddle like this. Because I dream, I am not. Really? What a load of nonsense. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

I dunno. I certainly feel for Leo, but I'm not sure what this film has to offer if you're not shocked or intrigued by his life. And I wasn't. His life isn't particularly unusual nor eventful nor insightful, just depressing in a banal sort of way.

Hey! They ripped off the poo inspection thing from one of Will's rants in "Fortin WIth Will"! True - some cats can't always get what you wanted. This blew miserably.

Leolo is curious, brave and in some points really extraordinary.I don't think that this Movie is a Comedy in any way.

A distinctly awful film. Even when something ugly or horrible ISN'T happening, you're just waiting for it to come. Lauzon hamfistedly tries to lighten it up by piling on unearned whimsy... whimsical characters, whimsical black comedy, whimsical soundtrack choices. It doesn't work, it only feels incredibly forced, like Gaspar Noe trying to co-opt Jean-Pierre Jeunet's style. With all the overwrought narration, I got the feeling that Lauzon is a frustrated poet.

Amazing, dark and often hilarious. Imagine a mix of Tarkovsky and Jeunet (if Jeunet wasn't a complete douche).
