Les Miserables

Not as good as the 1935 version but still better than recent adaptations. Michael Rennie makes a great Jean Valjean (Liam Neeson's Valjean owes a lot to this one), and the first third is particularly succesful. Cosette seems thrown into the narrative. Something that seems to be a common flaw in most films based on Victor Hugo's novel.
