Les neiges du Kilimandjaro

"Les Neiges Du Kilimandjaro" is a film of sublime beauty. The warm cast, nice photography, great script and tight direction result in an absorbing watch that at times proves to be both intense and relaxing.

A moral tale that despises cynicism and embraces a tender debate, one that presents social justice as a personal achievement: in times of unemployment, the poor steals from the rich, but the best way to solve things is caring about people, and not judging them in terms of strict rational thinking.

From the bunch of message films or social dramas I have seen lately this one is the less interesting. Maybe because it is not that obscure. The more interesting social drama comes from the point of view of the children, but it takes a while until this subplot arrives.

En kort period i mitten så borrar den lite i intressanta frågor om brott, skuld och straff, men den vågar inte gå vidare där utan återgår till att belysa hur gulliga franska syndikalister i sextioårsåldern tydligen kan vara. Jag hade vissa problem med betygsättandet, men den når inte riktigt upp till betyget fyra.
