Light of Day

i really loved it. Fox and Jett look and sound great together, but Gena Rowlands steals the show. The musical moments are also p authentic and memorable

This is Schrader's equivalent of an after school special, if such a thing is possible. Fox and Jett have some chemistry, and the scenes of them performing together have a certain nostalgic charm. It's just a shame that Schrader's story of blue collar dreamers plays like an odd compromise, like he was trying to make a more commercial film without totally abandoning his usual concerns. It's an uneasy mix that doesn't work, and Fox is really out of place in this working class setting.
