Few times in recent years an intelligent, extremely well written screenplay has matched a bold and visionary direction. Little Children goes in really unexpected ways, just when you thought you had seen it all about suburban dramas. Wilson and Winslet deliver really accomplished performances. Don't miss it.

Wildly inconsistent but not a bad movie. The narrator was unnecessary as was Noah Emmerich's character. And, come on, any movie that suggests Jennifer Connelly is more attractive than Kate Winslet is simply faulty.

A decent drama with mildly satirical undertones. I felt a bit jerked around as the transitions between the unrelated characters' scenes were anything but smooth, and the different storylines seemed incredibly non sequitur at times. I could've done without the seemingly arbitrary narration, as well. Other than that, the performances were top-notch. Jackie Earle Haley did an incredible job as Ronnie and the best scenes of the movie involve him.

A scathing but true indictment of Generation X parenting. This is one of the few convincing portrayals we have on film of contemporary suburbia and should serve as a sociological touchstone for many generations to come.

a pretty decent story line, and kosher acting. that whole book club scene about madame bovary is kind of gruelingly blunt, but other than that it's an enjoyable movie. haley's character is a guy you really feel for in the beginning, but then he goes and mucks that up. oh, and kate winslet gets naked, nothing unusual there.

Kate Winslet is stunning and is always worth watching, and this movie would be much better if more time were spent on the affair between Kate and Patrick Wilson. The child molester story was annoying and more than a little sad, but Jackie Earle Haley was surprisingly good and quite memorable. Jennifer Connelly was also gorgeous but had a small part. I did not like the narration. Overall it was well worth watching.

A darkly comedic drama that works really well as both, and it helps that the leads are fantastic, Winslet is no surprise and I guess Wilson and Haley shouldn't be either. They sell their anxieties and vacillating preoccupations and work really well together. It has a few flaws with pacing, several scenes go a little long (and some should just not exist), and some stylistic choices like the narration work out ok but I still found distracting. Really enjoyed it on the whole, though.

The performances are alright, but this movie mostly blows. It has possibly the most unnecessary, overbearing narration ever. In stark contrast to the previous film I had watched, Old Joy, drama is imported from every which angle, and most of the situations are twisted beyond recognition, right up to the ridiculous conclusion.

It's kind of long, but surprisingly, I wasn't bored at any point really. It's a simple enough suburban drama with some satirical undertones, but it's well done and well acted. I had two major gripes though, one being the narration, which just felt terribly out of place and unnecessary. The other was the ending, which just left me cold. It didn't really come together, it was more of an abrupt ending to all the plotlines, where the characters all just said "eh, nevermind, im done."Unsatisfying.

It looks good and is well acted but there are some issues. Spouses are one dimensionally "evil", story lacks forward momentum. Some good scenes, some not so good scenes, mainly the ones involving the redundant narration. Most of all: Connelly is supposed to be more attractive than Winslet? Really now?

Little Children is a quintessentially American film. It shares a cinematic lineage with American Beauty and Magnolia. It's better than the former on all counts and almost as good as the latter. As some critics point out, it's a literary drama, and I found Little Children owed a debt to John Irving's sensibility. Like the best of Irving, this is a well-plotted, character driven film, with a leavening of dark laughter.

Kate Winslet is a gem and pleasure to watch. Patrick Wilson also gives a nice understated performance. But once again male characters are humiliated with ridiculous scenes. 10 points are taken off for an idiotic masturbation scene, and of course nobody locks doors in movies. Am I watching an adult drama or American Pie? The pedophile part of the story was overly weird and unrealistic, and these two things diminished an otherwise fine movie.

Top badass moment? Larry overcoming his own problems and his hatred of pervert Ronnie. Okay, so first Larry had to all but to kill Ronnie's mother and then the latter castrate himself before he managed to do this, but I suppose he got there in the end. Has a very "mid-00s film based on a novel" vibe, y'know. Deals with disparate characters (representing controversial themes) to paint a picture of suburbia hell, and does so in a terrific way, with astonishing filmmaking with the cinematography and editing, particularly with the pool scene. And yet the story is malnourished, with some ridiculous and questionable plot points here and there, plus it ends up saying little about good ol' infidelity and pedophilia.

It's more often than not a sign that a film is weak when from the get go you've got some narrator droning on about what people are thinking and this is no different. I found it thought provoking though that a man has Jennifer Connelly at home and to top it off is riding Kate Winslet on the sly whilst I sit alone in my big grey (formerly white) underpants wondering where it all went wrong. Also...OMFG, Rorschach is a nonce!

American lifestyle on a shadow of child molester in the neighbourhood. Every single main character's life is connected with kids. Drama does not point on finger on anybody. Even "molester" gets his own background and reasons for his behaviour. Kate's character IS Madame Bovary who they refer in the story. Woman's sexual freedom and being a mother is difficult to combine. Kate's husband's got only a minor, humorous part. Voice-over was unnecessary, though links story to Desperate Housewives.

A small town torn apart by the return of a child molester fears for the safety of their children. Winslet is stunning, this film has two stories. A story of a budding love and a story of protecting those that matter most. One of the most heart wrenching films I have ever seen. Jackie Earle Haley is wonderful, his performance is a sad look into the life of an offender, should he hate these people for a chemical imbalance in the brain? It really is a tough decision.
