Josh Gad screaming fuck at children. It's suprisingly sweet for something I had no faith in. Don't worry Josh Gad I still have no faith in you. Gadzooks.

What a wonderful surprise. It doesn't re-invent much of the zombie-comedy genre. Instead, it continues the form's great ability to make fun commentaries on current anxieties; this time on how teachers bravely defend students in horrific situations like school shootings. It loses some points as without the sex and language it could've been a PG-13 film in the vein of Kindergarten Cop or School of Rock. But, given Lupita's warm performance and a fun pop soundtrack, those are minor distractions.

Little Monsters is as sincere as it is slight. Nyong'o shines, Gad amuses, and the rest of the cast turns in functional performances. A fantastic premise that lends itself to an entirely competent film.

This comedy horror mostly misses the mark but is loaded with many kooky situations along with some clever acting and upbeat dialog. Lupita Nyong'o is an irrepressible ray of sunshine protecting her students in this crazy mixup of blood, guts and splatter zombie nonsense. Josh Gad was irritating and not funny. Alexander England's role was also not particularly rewarding. It often felt like a children's movie that children shouldn't watch.

Lupita is great. I mean, I guess it has sort of an interesting concept? idk, but it doesn't really work when it's wholesome, neither does it when it's too serious or dark. The whole situation tho was a good getaway for there to be any kind of character development and... there wasn't a lot(? i mean, perhaps a bit, but not much. it's just disappointing, it could've been way better. It also drags a bit at times... but i guess Lupita makes it a worthy watch, right?

I didn't find it especially funny or that memorable but I'd still say it was good. Entertaining throughout but it didn't do anything that would make me place it above other zombie flicks. Gad's character just annoyed me more than anything, he wasn't funny.

It had to be a zombie movie, because Josh Gad wouldn't survive for two seconds in any monster scenario that required him to keep his mouth shut. But seriously, couldn't they have let the poor zombies munch on ONE kid at least?

I LOVE Lupita Nyong'o and she is so good here. But then Josh Gad shows up and ruins the film. His character is completely unneeded and I was waiting for him to just die.

Top badass moment? The beautiful Miss Caroline and her long-handled shovel. She can come help me garden anytime she wants. This is a funny film with some great lines in it. Unfortunately, it also features Teddy McGiggle, one of the most annoying characters ever created. Every time he was onscreen I just wanted to see him die... but sometimes God does listen. Also features a ukulele and a tractor that can't even outrun 'slow' zombies. 1 2 3, eyes on me. 4 decapitations, no cats or chainsaws.

I liked Teddy McGiggle. Dave was okay too.

A solidly produced and acted dud with one big failing: it just doesn't make the most of its premise. Props to Nyong'o and Gad, who were both excellent, but most of what is here is just reheated and rehashed leftovers from about a dozen other zombie movies.

Middling genre entry elevated by Nyong'o, bringing such a sweet and sparkly charisma to her role that she overshadows nominal star England. Never really capitalises on what could have been an interesting spin on zombie tropes (imagine LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL with zombies in place of the Nazis) and occupies that strange world between adult and kid-based fare (ala KINDERGARTEN COP). Good spirits do win the day, with Gad in support another standout as an amusingly noxious kids entertainer.

For all the time the opening act spends on developing douchebag Dave, his redemption arc feels too quick, though McGiggle’s fate seems about right (eGads, is Josh ever hilarious-“I fucking hate those little kiddlywinks”). The rest of the script is a nice balance of quirky situational contrast humour (innocent and cute kindergarteners vs. nasty zombies/kids entertainers) and engaging pathos driven by Nyong’o’s sweet and protective teacher: Bullies, exes, zombies-just shake 'em off, shake 'em off.
