there is no main character in Live Flesh like in many other movies by almodovar. In Fact you got five characters and their motive is passion. A word that stands for the most of his movies. Desire that turns into Passion. Bardem acts fantastic ( like always ) and imparts the movie enough depth with his great performance.Live Flesh isn't so glaring and colorful like his other movies but in my opinion a nice story written by life.

Pulpy 90s erotica, awkwardly bookended by a weak stab at Franco's Spain.

An entertaining story, and very erotic.

Here Almodovar sets up an intriguing love triangle (or pentagon, I suppose) but unfortunately doesn't go very far with it. The characters are wonderful as always, including the most sympathetic stalker you'll ever see. And the photography is nice, although not quite as strong as his other work. It just didn't go anywhere unexpected. And the political message was just clumsily tacked on. Nice, but not stunning.

I think this movie has specially a lack of identification with the characters, they really don't look deep, just weird. I don't see most of their acts look logical (and I mean using their logic as characters, not mine). I don't like the characters and I don't really mind what happens to them. There's an unusual abuse of songs, Liberto Rabal acts horrible (Almodóvar's lines are enough difficult to believe sometimes, they need stronger actors). And then the resolution... one of his worst.

Por muito tempo esse foi o meu Almodóvar favorito, ainda acho um filmaço, mas não o amo tanto mais, especialmente porque a única coisa que me passava na cabeça era gritar "BAAAARDEM GOSTOSO". Na Pluto TV.

The usual dirty-minded yet boring stuff from Almodovar. Do not believe the trailer for an instant, since it makes it look like one of those "erotic thriller" thingies

Almodóvar, heavily armed with his standard pots of garish color, but otherwise rather toned down. The tone, in fact, is quite uncertain: not quite light, not quite serious either, a bit salacious, a bit melodramatizing, totally uncommanding. The filmmaker takes little from the original Ruth Rendell novel: the wheelchair and the title, though not even the meaning of the title.

OK. Not really sure it knows what it wants to be. Some complexity of plot through characterisation and their interaction, but lacks spark.

Remember getting uber-hyped for this when a friend of mine described its ridiculous plot - was sadly a little bit disappointed with the film, though. It's due for a re-watch, however, so score change pending.

Almodóvar's net of troubled lovers and relationships has such a vibrant, sexy energy, that you feel connected with every shot, every dialogue.

Sex, plot twists and colors -"Carne trémula" is another intricate and thoroughly engrossing Almodóvar feature and one of his tightest and most entertaining efforts. The visuals are impressive, the once again laughable plot manages to mesmerize and, even when the film comes up short, it is never less than a handsomely crafted, titillating and humorous guilty pleasure.

The story was an Almodovar quality, though in some parts he made a slight jerks. The overall plot was anyway a bit calm; not as polished as his later films. Penelope Cruz's part was unfortunate short.

Slightly less campy than earlier Almodovar, but still delightfully over-the-top in a lot of ways and if anything even more emotionally invested in it's characters than usual.

(...) Welche Geschichte wird uns erzählt? Was ist überhaupt passiert?

All sorts of little things contribute towards what may appear to be this films eccentricity, but isn't that closer to life than the veneer of regularity that adorns many so called realist films? I'm not suggesting that this is close to life, but that it suggests a closeness to life.
